Where is the franchise mode info?

i posted this in another thread, but figured it might be worth starting a new one

All these new previews and still nothing about any type of franchise mode. Dont get me wrong, game play is extremely important, and obviously needed fixing after last year. But i will not buy this game if it doesnt have a decent franchise mode. Signature style and great gameplay would be teriffic, but im not an online player, so i need franchise.

Any thoughts? i think MVP 05 was the best ive ever played (although i havent played MLB the show in the past few years) but it had some major issues.

    1) the draft was awful. the scouting reports were vague, and usually didnt even translate to the actual games. it was pretty much impossible to find late round gems, and all the pitchers(literally all of them) got picked in the first 3 rounds

    2) free agent mechanics stunk. teams could re-sign their own guys without comeptition. Big time players from small market teams (dontrelle willis, miguel cabrera, johan santana, jason bay) would sign for peanuts. On top of that, whenever a player actually did make it to free agency, the contracts would still be too small. I was able to sign rocco baldelli, chone figgins and matt holliday for less than 1 million per year each, and they all became all stars. Way too easy. They need to balance out players signing hometown discount contracts with a realistic # of young stars hitting the market.

    3) no international scouting. Most of the talent in MLB comes from latin american countries. Finding guys like Miggy Cabrera, Johan Santana and Felix Hernandez is a massive part of building a successful MLB franchise. id love to be able to use budget points to set up scouting centers in various countries.

    4) progression. no baseball game has ever gotten this right. Not enough stars develop, and veterans often decline in unrealistic ways.

hopefully we'll hear some details about franchise mode in 2k7 soon. The fact that we havent is giving me the impression that its being totally neglected in order to fix gameplay and graphics. That isnt necessarilly the worst thing in the world, but i expect a full game experience on the "next gen systems", especially the 360.

valid points but don't expect all that in year 2 (or 1 if u don't count last year)

i think one of the blue shift versions had scouting for int'l players IIRC

maybe more is revealed in FEB
Bummed that you're not on my ignore list yet?.....Don't worry, I'm sure you will be very soon.

IGN said that they'll have stuff on the franchise in a couple of weeks.

A great product sells itself, no "back of the box" features required! (See Fifa...)

I didn't know that EA took over this title.

See, i dont consider that acceptable. Yes, i realize that the gameplay had major issues last year, but that shouldnt mean an incomplete game. If the NBA and college teams can put out a polished year 2 product(and the college team did it with a shorter space between games) why cant the baseball team?

I know that the deepest franchise mode in the world doesnt work without solid gameplay, but i would think that $60 would get us more than new rosters and fixes for stuff that shouldnt have been broken in the first place.

Still looking forward to this game though. dont get me wrong

well, considering that last years "game" had RED SOX on the sox AWAY jersey's, i'll settle for the small stuff 1st

Alex told me at CES that they are not done with the franchise and can't say anything about it until its done. He did say they he thought is very good and that people are going to be happily suprised.

I really hope this is true. Franchise mode is important in sports gaming and seemingly overlooked on most games on the 360...2K's always have the too many trade thing and weird lineups. I hope they can fix those for this year. I need some baseball now.

well, of course he would say that. he wants people to buy the game. But thank you for the info. Im very skeptical about this. I think we are going to get a very pretty and accurate simulation of baseball, but there will be a few small bugs.

However, i just have the feeling that the franchise mode will feel bare-bones and rushed. Ill be very pleasantly surprised if we get anything close to what i described in the first post.

Will there be full minor leagues (with stats)?
Will there be real prospects with fake names like MVP 05?
                    Will there be international scouting/signing?
Will there be a decent draft with a variety of prospects?
Will there be good player progression?

all of these remain to be seen, and i havent seen a baseball game get them right yet. Like i said before, MVP 05 did an ok job, but had major issues.

-pitchers couldnt develop new pitches. This made absolutly no sense. I find it very hard to believe that an 18 year old HS starting pitcher would never develop a 3rd pitch to go along with a 2 seem and 4 seem fastball. They also wouldnt develop enough stamina. The one big one i remember was yanks pitching prospect phillip hughes. No matter how many simulations i ran, he would never develop enough stamina to become a viable starting pitcher. He was gassed after 3 innings.

add in the fact that guys came in with speed or power ratings of 1 on a 1-100 scale, and you had a severe lack of quality young players. The only guys that developed accuratly were relief pitchers and some decent contact hitters who began the game in AAA. Otherwise, trying to develop talent was a waste of time.

I realize that all these mistakes were made by a diferent game and a diferent company, but with the guy from MVP now on board with 2k, i would hope that they are fixed. Ill be very surprised if they all are.

It isnt much but this is 1 of the bullet points from tha 2k sports website.

Franchise Finance - Team news, attendance, ticket prices and fan "buzz" will all play a key role in the success of your franchise. Each of these elements can affect your seasonal profit or deficit, affecting budgets for subsequent seasons
