Lets compare the 2 based on clips

    Pro Yakyuu Spirits 3

    MLB 2k7

MLB definitely has the better production but I think Pro Yakyuu have the better batting system and fielding system though. (although whoever was playing is horrible)

    what's your take?

What a joke - Tigiro Isamachi lifts his leg a full three inches higher when he takes practice swings. And what was up with them missing Isaka's left forearm tatoo? The CPU threw way too many strikes. The commentary sucks - is it THAT difficult for developers to add subtitles? I expect more from next gen

Of course I'm joking. I thought the Japanese game looked really good from a gameplay standpoint. Doesn't seem to have the visual detail 2K looks to be trying to incorporate. But seeing the warm-up pitches, the varying batter reactions (pitcher didn't seem to react much) - it looks like a pretty good game. Biggest difference seemed to be the visuals, and 2K's attention to individual player details. I'm no where near as knowledgeable as most of you are though
HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Pro Yakyu looks good and it looks like it plays well too...except the hit to the wall where the guy was held to a single. Question mark on that play.

I like the hitting system with Pro yakyu with showing the bat in the zone...but the hitting looks too easy. The pitch needs to be sped up or have a bit more break...or both.

We should be able to get the Japanese game for the PS3 because it is Region free right?

I am so glad I got the PS3. I really enjoy good baseball games and we may have 3 on the PS3 this year!

I liked the strike zone actually stopped at the waste. I'm sick of these strike zones to the arm pits in our games, no ump calls the zone like that.

The hitting tho tells you where the ball its. You have to time it still, but you aren't gonna be fooled from a curveball thats drops off the table. Takes the skill I think out of working the count too much. It is probably a better next gen, game, but I think its likely that MVP NCAA has better gameplay.

That game looked freakin great. I may have to import that. Graphically, I think 2k has it beat out, but that game looked like fun.

The Japanese game looked to be better. The batting cursor was nice. And Jon Miller and Joe Morgan sound better in Japanese.

Re: Lets compare the 2 based on clips

The batting cursor is inherently unrealisitic though in my oppinion. Instead of trying to judge the ball and where it is going to break it tells you. It becomes a game of matching the pixels up. Maybe there is a little timing involved, but the use of breaking balls are probably reduced change-ups really just used for a contrast to the fastballs speed. You don't have to worry about back-door sliders or a 2-seemer that runs away or a cutter that cuts in on the hands at the last second because it tells you where its going to end up, all you have to do is be quick at lining the cursors up. It doesn't seem like timing is really an issue either because you have to swing right away to even have a chance, maybe once in a while you will have to wait a split second on an offspeed pitch. I'm sure its still hard, but it doesn't seem like it replicates pitchign aswell as MVP's system.

Still seems better than zone hitting like the show has though. We don't know how 2k will end up either, so it could be the best next gen game (even though we can't play it here), but I don't think it would be better than MVP NCAA 2007 on PS2.

I'm sorry... but the first thing that caught my eye in Pro Yakyu was the strike zone. Was it a little low? Maybe. Is it more realistic than what 2K offers? Ooooh yes.

Next thing that I noticed was the way that the ball realistically bounced on the grass.

I'm pretty sure the Tokyo Dome is astro turf (if that's what they're calling it these days).

This IS a great looking game. Has anyone answered the question if the PS3 is region free (whatever they call it) and a Japanese import would play on it?

Yes, just checked it.....Tokyo Dome is your average run of the mill domed stadium. Astro-Turf. Sterile concrete
