Hitting?
I'm a huge fan of the MVP series but since you have to have a PS2 this year to play it, then i won't be able to. I rented last years MLB2K game for the 360 and hated it. With all of the movies and info i have seen from this years version, it looks promising. I'm more of a realistic gameplay over graphics but good graphics does help. My question is does anyone know if this years version has Zone Hitting? That was a new feature in last years MVP College Game on the Reg. Xbox. I loved it!!! You just move the analog stick where the pitch is thrown and push the swing button. To me that is the most challenging. I know its diff. for a lot of people but that is my fav. So does anyone know or heard anything about that type of hitting being in this years Xbox 360 version?Tags: None -
Re: Hitting?
I thought MLB2K6 had zone hitting as well? I know the default was the swing stick, but I remember switching it to the other option which I thought was zone based. If that was in last year, I assume it would be again this year. I don't think any specifics have been mentioned though.
I'm also a huge fan of zone hitting. Timing is too easy and 2K's implementation of the swing stick was too forgiving last year. HH had one of the better zone hitting models that I've ever used. -
Re: Hitting?
I agree, HH was awesome in the hitting catagory. I can't remember if last years had it our not. Hopefully it will. Last years version also had a lot of stiff and wierd motions with the players. Just wasnt realistic looking and fluid. This years looks better but i can't tell if its on par with MVP. We'll see soon.Comment

Re: Hitting?
mlb2k6 for the 360 was strictly timing, you used the L stick only to influence hit direction, up down left and right, so if it was an outside pitch and you try to pull it might just be a weak grounder to short (with right hand batter) unless he was a power hitter, so better to aim right with L stick and go with the pitch, not sure what they have in store for hitting this yr. but i'm guessiong it will be the same.Comment

Re: Hitting?
That style of hitting sounds familiar. I'm just not a fan of that type of hitting because its just not as realistic to me as zone hitting. In zone hitting if your a left handed hitter and the pitch is outside and you push inside, you shouldnt even hit it or nub it off the end. To me this is the best and most realistic. If its low and you push up you should hit a grounder or again not even hit it. Hopefully this will be in this years version but not likely.Comment

Re: Hitting?
I agree, i don't like it either. I think if you push in the proper direction and time it correctly, you should be able to hit it with enough power to hit a HR, depending on the hitters power. It does have its advantages though. I mean from experience, if you have no strikes on you then i am looking for something middle-in and if its there and I recognize the pitch and time it right then i'm going to swing a little harder than normal. With a strike or even two, i'm going to just try to make contact but not much diff. in swing speeds to have a contact and power button. Maybe it should just be built into the AI.Comment
