Hope the old schoold hit cursor returns

Not the new cursor that self centers, but the old one from 2K4. I havent truly enjoyed a baseball game since.

Yes all the new versions of "zone hitting" make for a prettier looking on screen display, but they are all too easy IMO. I want to strike out. I want it to be hard as heck to make contact on a guy throwing 99 MPH. I want it to be almost impossible to get a hit with a .200 hitter.

Nothing IMO represents hitting like the old cursor. It truly represented bat on ball contact and is the only way to make hitting HARD. Especially when a guy is a terrible hitter and his cursor is the size of a mosqito. Zone hitting is always too timing based and aftger you get used to it its almost impossible to strike out.

Just bring the option back please 2K.

2k4's hitting system was easily my favorite of all-time. Every time I made contact with a pitch it felt realistic in terms of where the ball was hit.

However, I'm pretty sure the cursor is a thing of the past, and if it does come back it'll be the crappy 2k5 one.

I couldn't agree more. I feel the 2k4 cursor has the greatest batting feel out of any other baseball game I have ever played.

Never played the 2K series but I'm interested this year hearing how it's suppose to be rebuilt from ground up

How does the "swing stick" batting work in 2K ??

It is only timing based ??

            Zone based ??

If it's zone based can you still get full hit variety if you don't aim ??

I like timing based batting because the hit outcome is more random

all hitting in 2k6 was timing with the L stick used to infuence hit type and direction.

When you say "influence" hit type does that mean you could still get a full variety of hit types & direction by just timing your swing ?

seemed to be a reasonable amount of hit type but i didn't play a whole lot of it, as far as i could tell timing has the most influence, the L stick just helps a bit if you want to specifically try to hit the ball in a certain direction.

The hit influence with the L stick was zone based. ie. if you pressed up on the L stick and the ball was low, you would swing and miss.

Personally, I can't stand the "Swing Stick" and desperately miss the cursor. Swing Stick timed hitting is way too easy. I used to have a great time using the cursor on the "very small" setting. Hitting was way too easy in 2k6 and was a gamekiller for me (as well as numerous other factors, such as the rocket arms and franchise mess). I also miss the classic pitching. I miss not having a pitch cursor and strike zone outline, this makes pitching way too easy. I liked it better when I had to guess where the cursor was. However I do like breakpoint and payoff pitching, I just only wish there was an option to disable the pitch cursor and strike zone outline.

                        I also miss the cursor.

I loved it the first time I played with a cursor in World Series Baseball '95 and then in All Star Baseball and then back in the 2k series.

                        Oh well...

Eh, I thought the cursor was too easy.

In 2k4 all I did was set up the cursor low and wait for a high pitch. I'd set the cursor just underneath the pitch and had an extra base-hit parade.

It's the reason why I sold 2k4 so quickly.

I miss the cursor, but I hope they reshape how it works. I mean, I want the same kind of 2D cursor... no angling like ASB. But, it would also be cool if the cursor was shaped like the bat barrel, and would angle more horizontally when going higher up in the zone, and have a steeper angle when going lower in the zone. In respect to this, at center, players with tendencies to hit a fly ball will have a steeper angled barrel than those that have a tendency to hit more ground balls. I hope that makes sense. I could make drawings if needed.

Players would have larger cursors (a larger looking bat) if they have better contact.

The cursor fades toward invisible as it goes further down the bat, but basically... if you aimed further outward than where the ball was pitched but had the height, then you would get jam-job contact.

Also, this will be sort of hard to explain, but the outside lines of the cursor represent... well... the edge of the bat. So, should a player decide to hit the ball off of the line with less than 50% of the ball on the bat side of the line, it should more than likely result in a foul ball or foul tip.

Maybe this needs to be posted in the wishlist thread.

I do kind of miss the cursor also . I thought 2K6 swing stick was too easy as someone else mentioned.I liked the cursor in that Japanese baseball game.I'm ok with the swing stick as long as it offers more of a challenge to hit than last years game
