are the focused on the old gen this year, too?

i have been wondering what effort they are going to put into improving the ps2/xbox versions? ordinarily i would think that they would not, but since they have a semi-exclusive license they 'should' have a responsiblity to the MLB to put out a good product.

there are millions of ps2's and xbox's out there, and no xbox competitor, you would think they would look at that as an open market. with the base of consoles out there, i think it would be likely they would sell at least as many, if not more, copies on old gen.

Graphically, don't expect any major changes, if any at all. Chances are they still have the same old Busch Stadium, Safeco Field will still be a dome... and probably even the same bats and swing animations.

It will be more than a roster update, but not much (hence the cheap price). I'm sure that when most people buy it, they'll probably think its the same game, but if you played them both a lot, you would notice that 2K7 has a lot less chunky controller moments, more than likely in defensive movement and the swing stick. It will play a bit better than last year's version, but it just doesn't have the memory to get new animations, though a few are replaced here and there.

There will more than likely be some new heads made to go along with the updated roster as well. There will also be a few other little things that actualy make a big difference that have changed on all platforms... like cameras, interfaces, visual overlays, etc. Any overhauls in pitching, baserunning, etc. should be included. Not sure about addition to commentary, except for maybe the name database and new stats. Online play should be ironed out a little more as well (for instance, pitching from the BTP view, and batting from the batter's view).

Is it worth the upgrade? To most people, compared to 2K6, stuffing a pancake in the PS2 would be an upgrade. I'd say go for it, though you're right... it is last-gen, and they will treat it like that. Current-gen is what their focus is on.

current-gens are dead, im suprised they are bringing this out for x-box and PS2, mainly x-box though sense microsoft has abandoned it altogether. This will most likely be one of the last games coming out for x-box. most likely a roster update and a few glitches fixed, and of course some glitches added. New animations, and whatever new features they come out with, probably worth the cheap price for the amount of entertainment gained out of it.

Seriously there are thousands, if not millions more units in peoples homes than 360 or PS3. It would be "surprising" if they didn't release this game on the "dead" current-gen platforms.

I don't understand this quote. You make it sound like MLB gave 2K the license out of the goodness of their hearts. MLB signed off on this deal because they make (a lot) more money this way. MLB (not to mention the PA) is not concerned with quality, just dollars.

If you want to make the argument that 2K should have a responsibility to the consumer to put out a good product, then okay. But MLB? They don't care.

I respect your opinion and you for sure know more then me, but that is not completely true. If they were putting out crap every year MLB would some what care. I think they even care some what about last years crap1! At least that is what one of the makers said, but I hear you. lol

              Fixed.

Why is it so easy for for everyone to characterize EA or 2K as monolithic money-grubbing corporations, and yet so difficult to believe the same about MLB or the NFL? Game companies are far more concerned with quality than the leagues, for obvious reasons. If Madden sucks to the point that people don't buy the game anymore, the NFL loses a fraction of its licensing revenues; EA's stock crashes, hundreds if not thousands get laid off, and the company might go under. Video games are a cash cow to the leagues, nothing more.

there are a lot more units out there, but if they stop selling games on x-box people will convert to 360, hense why there is no madden or NCAA 08 coming out for original x box, and also if u go to gaming sights, such as gamespot.com, if u look at the coming soon section its pretty naked.
