you can rip from cds...not mp3 format.

Everyone seems to be talking about atmosphere, and although the improvement/flaws of the game modes will not be iminent until we all have a copy and are able to play who really cares about all of that stuff if you never have a pitcher get injured in a 162 gm season, and if managers are fired liked bullets, and players are traded like baseball cards.

I do want a game where there is custom atmosphere at every ballpark, or player specific songs (like Billy Wagner coming out to Enter Sandman), but all that stuff is cosmetic when compared to wanting to sit down and play a franchise that plays like a baseball game and season.

But I don't see how Kush's audio team has anything to do with the franchise team or the gameplay team. They are almost completely separated.

          1. things like atmosphere and presentation, to me, add to the realism of a game significantly.
          2. since none of us have played the game we cant comment on gameplay, but we have seen these videos so we can comment on the presentation/audio. The apparent lack of crowd noise/enthusiasm is dissapointing (also b/c how hard is it to go find a cheering soundbyte and play it after a HR?) but its not like its going to be a gamekiller (for me anyways). I agree with you that the most important thing is that it plays a good game of baseball and there are no insurmountable glitches like in years past. Furthermore i am more dissapointed w/the lack of physics (durham crushing that inside FB to oppo field) than the crowd noise for now, but that is also not something which will determine if i have fun playing this game. Obviously nothing is perfect and it drives me nuts in the show as well when i hit a high inside changeup to opposite field (im convined it is solely timing that determines if you pull or hit opposite field). IIRC MVP had this done pretty well, i remember most HRs being inside FBs i was able to catch up to and get around and pulled down the line.

Yes, correct. It's all in the MVP swing analysis replay feature that they had. You know the ones with the yellow balls representing foul balls and the green balls representing contact (darker green better contact). Well like you said it seems as though in The Show and 2k7 it's just based on timing. If you swing late it will go to opposite field regardless where the pitch is in the zone (inside, middle, outside). This is a major flaw in my opinion and doesn't feel right when you bat. It's not simulation by any means. I think this should of been on Brinkmans to-do list for the first year of the game. Something that should be improved. I'm sure it will be in next year's game but it's too bad it wasn't fixed for the first year. MVP's hitting engine from 2 years ago far surpasses a "next gen" hitting engine. Shows how much graphics and marketing take part in the development of a game.

MVP had the best hitting in my opinion. That was so fun to hit. I hope they bring some of that to 2k7. If they did, this game would be more awesome.

Go find Interplay Sports Baseball 2000 for PSX for about 25 cents somewhere, find a PSX for about 25 cents somewhere, put two-and-two together and play that game for a little while. Come back and tell me which system you like better.

Man, Interplay seriously had so many things right. I really wish they upgraded to PS2 and then to PS3.

don't forget in the 2k game that you have the R stick to influence hit direction as well.
