      Re: Variable umpiring

not sure about variable umpiring but in 2k6 for the 360 the strikezone size was not the same every game, if you played with the strike zone on you could easily see this.

Yep the Show has it. Let's hope MLB 2K7 has it. It adds to the game.

              Re: Variable umpiring

In an interview (i forgot which one), they said that umpires would look different and call differently. Along with different names, more serious players will use the recognition of different umpires to their advantage.

I'm trying to find the interview.

                I read this too.

if the User from the POTD vids didn't swing at every pitch we may have seen some variable calls (strikes as balls, balls as strikes etc.).

                    Re: Variable umpiring

I read in an interview that umpires will have variable calls, and will react differently. They will have their own personalities and some will be more and less tolerant, etc.

+1 on the stream of people who remember reading something about this being in the game but having no idea where.

                        Re: Variable umpiring

I think it was in the Q/A at OS that the variable umpire was mentioned. I'd have to check again....

It's a great feature in any case. Should be standard on all baseball games IMO.

                          Re: Variable umpiring

There was variable umpiring in last year's Xbox version, though it only shifted in height. The strike zones didn't "scale" in height or width.

The default strike zone needs to be lower and smaller though, and that's a for sure.

                            Re: Variable umpiring

Variable calls are in the game, but like many others I don't remember where exactly I read this.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer
