Great idea for MBL 2K7, & NBA 2K7

I think a great idea would be to sell decade Mods for MLB 2K7, NHL 2K7 and NBA 2K7. VC could have decade teams or teams from the Negro Leagues as Mods. I wouldn’t mind paying an extra 20 bucks if I could get older teams into the current game. We should be able to play these teams against each other as well as the current teams. We should be able to your own dream team from all the players available.

I think this would be a great way to keep the games fresh and add a revenue stream for 2K sports. To my knowledge nothing like this has been done in the past. The good thing is once these mods are created they can be sold year after year because there are always new people buying the games in the future who would want to play with older teams as well. What do you guys think? Imagine the 99 Yankees vs 06 Cards. Crazy idea or something VC should consider?

It sounds like a lot of fun, but the problem is, as always, licensing. For a company to use the names and likenesses of old players they have to sign and pay each one individually because they are no longer a part of their respective players' association.

Couldn't they do it Madden style? No real players, just similar numbers and body sizes? I am no lawyer so I dont know what crosses the line. But when you play classic madden teams you know who the players are like Barry Sanders and Walter Payton etc..
