call ups / send downs problem

I seem to be having a problem with call ups and send downs. I'm editing my rosters right now to update them, and I can never send down a player from MLB to AAA. I can transfer between AA and AAA but not MLB to AA or AAA. I just put Victor Zambrano on the Blue Jays, now the Jays have 13 batters and 13 pitchers, but I can't send one down to balance out the rosters. There's only 24 players on my AAA, So I should be able to send someone down correct?

I had the exact same problem. I was trying to send Hinske down to make a spot in the roster for this strapping, talented, good looking first baseman that the Sox signed from out of nowhere (okay, it was me) and it wouldn't let me do it. I moved a player down to AA from AAA to open a spot, but it wouldn't let me move Hinske. The only thing I could figure was that he was out of options and would have to pass through waivers like in ASB, but I don't think that's built in to this game. Finally, I couldn't move out of the roster screen so when the message came up saying I had 26 players and would I like the CPU to fix it, I said yes. Amazingly, they moved Hinske down for me. I think that was just random good luck though.

I just figured out a quick fix to the problem. Take the player you want to send down from your MLB roster and use the other side of the screen to go to AA and find a position where you have no players at and hit "A" . The free slot button isn't there, but it will still ask if you want to send him down. You can send him to AA and then transfer him to AAA.

Good deal. It seems strange that you would have to do that, though. The slot is open on the AAA roster, so it should be easy just to put the player there. I can't remember if this was the case in last year's game?

I'm 99.5 % sure that this wasn't a problem in 2k6. I've only been playing exhibition games so far with 2k7, so I'll have to check it out.

Sorry, I don't see the issue. The very first roster move I made was switching an MLB player for an AAA player. In fact, the game wouldn't let me move the MLB guy down without moving up an AAA player immediately afterwards. It was a straight one-for-one switch, with no problems.

There always have to be 25 players on the roster - which has been part of the series for years. Is that why the game isn't letting you just move a guy down?

I was making roster moves in the manage roster screen. When I'd add a FA to the team, it would make it so that there were 26 players on the MLB roster, and I couldn't send one down to AAA even if AAA had 24 players or less

Okay, got it. The solution I believe involves sending a player to the FA pool. I had the same problem with one trade, and was able to fix it somehow - just not sure what I did exactly. But with 2K5, the same problem occured, and the fix involved moving a player to the FA pool. I'll test it today and see if I can figure out the steps exactly.

I was having the exact same problem, but found out why. A guy who's posted a great thread at gamefaqs.com mentioned that you cannot go over 50 total players on your team, including the MLB, AAA and AA rosters. What's odd is that some teams I've noticed have over 50 players(?) but if you try to add to those teams, it won't let you send anyone down. But if you sign someone from the free agent pool, you have to be under 50 players on your team. Once I released some fake minor-leaguers (guys that were in their late 30's that were clearly not real players) and got under 50, I was able to get that "free slot" back in the AAA screen and all was well.
