PS3 fielding is better and easier to see
I bought both yesterday, and I am no fanboy of either because I have both systems. On my TV (A Samsung DLP I run in 720p), the Xbox 360 version overall looks better, but only because of the self-shadowing and grass textures. But, it is darker, and partly due to this, especially in night games I have a really tough time with hard hit ground balls and spotting the blue spot where the ball will land in the outfield. The PS3 version is slightly sharper and brighter. The hats, etc don't shadow on the PS3 version like they do on the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 version has a more realistic look to it because of the shadowing. There are shadows of the players bodies, and bats on the PS3 version, but not for instance under their hats.Next Fielding just works better on the PS3 for some reason. I am not sure if it is because I can see the ball off the bat better or if the controller is just more responsive, or if the game just runs smoother, I will have to play more to find out. The xbox 360 batting is more responsive for some reason, but you get used to the different timing on the PS3.Next, little things. Xbox 360 Manny Ramirez has the dreads, but Not the PS3 Manny. Why? I haven't looked at big unit or some other players with long hair yet. Haven't noticed any difference in menus or presentation overall.Don't like the sixaxis batting as of now, and opted for one button swing on both systems.Overall for me, the PS3 version is more fun to play. Fielding is easier, and I see the ball better. I have absolutely no trouble fielding even in night games on the PS3, but on the Xbox 360 I have struggled on occasion, especially at night games.I miss the rumble that the Xbox 360 has. It has a nice feel when the ball hits the mit, and during tough situations when the ball bounces around. It does this on the PS3, but it doesn't rattle you as much. PS3 please pay the rumble people and come out with an optional rumble controller for God's sake.Overall, like the game so far, but not the one fielding camera for ground balls. I would rather have a good camera and paper crowds if that is the issue (which I don't believe it is anyway). I haven't played enough games for real yet to see if last years stuff is fixed (rocket arms, can't score from 2nd on a single to right, not using the cut-off man (have seen them use it), substitions, etc.)But, I struggled on which version to buy, so I bought both for peace of mind since I don't buy a ton of games anyway, just the major sports, and big games like Halo series, Call of duty, Gears of War, Resistance, etc.I would say if you have both systems and only can afford one, and Xbox live is not a big issue with you, and you mostly play against the computer like me, gameplay is a little more important to you than graphics, get the PS3 version, otherwise get the 360 version. Rent first if you have the patience to wait.Tags: None
