I can't remember which game had a "perfect" franchise mode. I am not just talking about baseball games but any console sports game. I always expect some type of bugs in franchise.

HH and ASB and MVP aside, the franchise for this game was broken last year and probably before that. It's not as if these are new problems that people are complaining about, these are reoccurring problems and that is what makes them tough to take. These things might be a little more understandable, but since April of last year (and possibly before that) it has been known that franchise has had major flaws...so what do they do? They allow us to adjust ticket prices instead of fixing the roster management or allowing us to control the other teams so that we can fix them ourselves.

I understand that the Gameplay is the "sexy" part of a sports game. The causual gamer is going ot buy this game for decent gameplay so it is understandable that this is where the majority of the time is going, especially on a remodel project.

Think about next year: If they didn't touch Gameplay at all next year, but worked soley on making a perfect, flaw-free franchise, this game would probably get hammered by the causual gamers and most of the reviewers because, while the gameplay is pretty solid, it's still not perfect and still needs attention.

Well OK, if you say so, but when they make up the majority of your market, you tend to gear your games towards them.

What % of the people that you think play basebal video games can explain the purpose of the Infield Fly Rule or can explain why a coach would use a double switch?

My guess is that the majority of the casual games can't answer these questions.

One of my old best friends was a die-hard Giants fan. Watched every game, knew every player, but didn't have a baseball mind and couldn't answer any of these questions. Yet, when a baseball game game out, he would pick it up the first day it came out.

While I feel for you guys who can make it through more than one season and who will notice these flaws, I'm excited about the prospect of Brinkman setting his sights on franchise mode for next season.

I really hope he brings a lot of the elements of "Owner's Mode" from MVP. I loved building a new ballpark for the Twins, buying concession stands, setting all sorts of pricing, etc. MLB should have plenty of time to work out the obvious problems you guys are mentioning and add some nifty new stuff, since they have corrected a large number of the gameplay problems from last year.

I'm not making excuses for them not having a working franchise mode this year, but I really hope they do something to revolutionize the franchise mode next year. If the improvement in franchise mode from this year to next year is as big as the improvement in gameplay from last year to this year, I would be willing to bet that 2K8 is one of the best baseball games I ever play.
Of course, if Dawson gets hot, and
            Sutcliffe comes through, and....
Pa, see what you did to me?
