Re: Just got 360, tried 2K7, my thoughts...
Ehh knows things. Good post.
To me, this game is going to end up being as fun as MVP '05 was. I'm usually a big franchise guy so I'll have to learn to live without it, but thank god they have a Tournament mode which MVP didn't have. I also describe myself as a sim guy and not an arcade guy, but I'm starting to reconsider.
I feel like so many people, including myself, have become so intense about having a perfectly realistic game that it takes all the entertainment aspect out of it. For example, College Hoops 2k7 is an amazing game, pretty darn realistic, they have an amazingly deep legacy mode (everything is great cept the sim engine is a bit wacked) - but man it got old for me after three months. Yet, I can still pick up MVP '05 and have a blast with it because it was close enough in terms of realism and off the charts in terms of fun-factor. Video games are suppose to be fun, they're not suppose to make you spend more time tweaking sliders than playing the actual game. Games aren't suppose to bring you stress and anxiety.
For the most part I've taken a hands-off approach to this game. I've glanced through the glitches thread a little and even posted in it a couple times, but I'm not going to let all of the moaning in there ruin what has been an extremely enjoyable game for the first three days I've owned it. I haven't touched a single slider yet cept for OF speed to try and aid the robbed-HR issue. I played three games against my friend last night and haven't had that much fun playing a sports video game since MVP '05 first came out. If there's a sporadic goofy fielding glitch I laugh it off, I don't let it push to the point where there's steam coming out of my ears and I come on OS and write a 5,000 word essay on how much this game sucks. So if there's a small glitch here and there in gameplay, I don't care. I brush it off and keep on going because I know for 99% of the time I play this game it's going to be fun as hell. The pitching and the hitting are so addictive in this game, once you master both of them it's such a blast to play this game.
So basically the bottom line is this, I'd rather have a game that's entertaining and fun as hell to play than a game that has a perfect franchise mode, is 100% glitch free but is boring as all hell to play. That was the case for me last year with The Show. It was like puppy love the first month I had the game, then before I knew it was bored out of my mind and the game was collecting dust. Every game has it's issues, but I can easily deal with 2k7's and still enjoy the heck outta it. That's not the case with most sports games over the last five years.
