    starting to get freaking frustrated!

played two games into my franchise with heels sliders

    first game lost 7-1

    whitesox (them) vs indians (me)

    they had 13 hits i had 5

my one run was a solo shot in the 8th inning on a meat pitch.. it was with victor martinez

konerko had 2 homeruns for them.. solo and 2 run

i had 6 ks total they had 10ks total (i threw 95 total pitches, they threw 86 total pitches)

    2nd game

konerko 1st inning 3 run shot..thome 2 run shot in the 8th inning (mind you it was a payoff pitch and i hit the target perfectly, ironic i guess payoff pitching is useless among other things)

i scored in teh top of the 8th with two outs.. sizemore hit a single up the middle with runners on first and third.. i had two outs and the my 8 and 9 hitters both reached on back to back errors then sizemore got a little seeing eye single

i ahd 7 hits they had 10 hits i lost 5-1.. they threw 84 total pitches i thre 76 total pitches and they strucky out 6 and i struck out 5 total batters

i cant freaking hit its ridiculous... they give me nothing good the hit and i keep swinging at crappy pitches because everything looks like a strike then it just rolls in the dirt...

I just stuck out 13 times in my last game. I did the same with 2k6 but got used to it after a few days. You will too.

I was having lots of problems with this game at the beginning, but things are getting better now. I play on All Star and have only tweaked a few sliders. AI Batter Contact and Power are dropped down to what they are on Pro level (40 and 50 I think). This has helped keep the ball in the park much more.

Also, I moved AI Pitching Overall Strikes down one click from 35 to 30 and Pitch Ball Behind in Count one click from 75 to 70 I believe. I have a much better time working the count like this and can draw walks if I'm patient enough.

Most importantly if you're using the swing stick, don't move the left stick unless you have a REALLY good feeling a pitch is going to that location. I usually only move the left stick before the pitch to guess location, but once that pitch is a comin, I just use the good ol' right stick. Works great, trust me.

            Ha, sounds like my sliders.

My hitting is on All-Star, but the CPU hitting is closer to Pro after I made my slider changes.

I also made the changes with CPU throwing strikes. I'm about to play my first game in a few minutes with those changes.

Just a question...who's on the mound when you're having trouble getting hits? I've found that when the other team's ace is on the mound, I'm not getting as many hits as when their #4 or #5 starter is.

Try a few exhibition games and make sure the other team's #4 or #5 starter is on the mound. Then, come back and tell us how you're hitting.

hitters eye would be nice. I hope they steal that idea from MVP next year. I swing at balls that hit the ground.

That reminds me. Use this game's version of hitter's eye, pick a spot, and sit on it until either A) they throw the ball there or B) you get 2 strikes on you. That's been helping me out a lot as well.

For me hitting is easy - I just use the classic style and DON'T influence the ball. My hits are based purely on the timing and the pitch location. The only time I try to influence the ball (i.e. using the left stick) is if I absolutely need to hit a homerun (and it doesn't always work either).

                      Works great for me.

try changing the pitcher effectiveness slider (think thats the name) theres one slider that basically changes how much better "aces" are from everyone else.

"...thome 2 run shot in the 8th inning (mind you it was a payoff pitch and i hit the target perfectly, ironic i guess payoff pitching is useless among other things)"
I actually think this is very realistic. Thome is a great HR hitter, so even a perfect "payoff pitch" isn't always going to get by him. Just think about a real life game, in a "payoff pitch" (aka clutch) situation an MLB pitcher will either decide to A) Pitch around a batter like Thome, or B) Go right at him with his best stuff and risk getting hurt (like what happened here).

The more I play this game the deeper it seems to be, some of the most frustrating aspects are what's going to make this game stay in my PS3 for a very long time, it's challenging in a realistic way.
                            - Deciding when to pitch to/pitch around a bigtime hitter.
                            - Working pitch counts and learning not to take hacks at every pitch.
                            - Beanball battles.
                            - Manager arguments.
                            - Dealing with AI that actually attempts suicide squeezes, etc.
                            etc...
