    Differentiating between strike and ball

I just cant figure it out yet. I guess it may come with experience. I have been trying to read the ball out of the pitchers hand but it isn't reliable. What is a good way to tell if a pitch is going to be a ball or a strike? I really cant tell so i swing at pretty much everything.

On this game you need to differntiate between 1. pitches you can handle and 2. pitches you can't handle.

Often #2 will be a ball. Of course when you have 2 strikes on you, then experience comes into play.

Some are stating to zoom all the way in (90-100) on the VIP setting under "Batting Camera".

That may work but I've gone the other way and zoomed down to below 20. I see the ball better

Also try lowering the pitch speed slider. It was at 70 default for me and I lowered it to 60 and am starting to be able to read the ball better.

Zoom at 0 and I am getting better at the reads. of couse being behind makes you more swing happy.

Im going to throw this out there, not necessarily about reading whether its a ball or strike but more reading it from the pitchers hand. Am I the only one that enjoyed the ability to read what type of pitch was coming from a pitcher, like in MVP 05? I had forgotten about this feature until just now and I really enjoyed it, was implemented just fine and gave more of a sense of realism since all hitters rely on seeing the seams on the ball as it leaves a pitchers hand and since thats nearly impossible to replicate on a video game, this seemed to be the next best thing, just thought I would gauge others opinions on this also.

I had to do the same thing. I played a game against the Yankees with Mussina pitching and he still struck me out 9 times. He changes speed very good and a lot of times I was swinging early on at pitches.

I did this and it had a dramatic effect on my gameplay almost immediately. The first three at-bats I had after making the switch were homerun, homerun, and robbery of a homerun.

But...can you do this online? The zoom is grayed out. I'd hate to make a change offline, get used to it, and then suck online because of it.

Same here, I see the pitches better with a zoom of 90.

Don't think this is adjustable online. Might be in a league format but not sure about that.

I am having a fairly easy time telling if a pitch is a ball to the outside but inside balls really kill me. I especially have a hard time with a slider or curve that breaks from across the plate outside to inside but I guesse that most hitters irl have that same problem so its realistic. After hitting everything last year its kinda nice to see realistic batting averages.
