    Guide for the New User

    Hey:

After reading through bunch of threads and asking questions around, I have compiled small tidbits of info for the new user to know before starting a franchise or start playing MLB regularly. Here are some of the suggestions that these boards have. I will keep updating this first post as new info comes by. Lets try to keep all these tips in 1 single post, opposed to 50 pages threads. Thanks for all the info everyone.

Well, I still don't have the game yet I have checked alot these boards and have seen some tips from the users.

    1) Use the popular sliders on the Slider Boards. They are constantly being updated. If you want try them all and choose on the best for you. The links are:

    Qbert's Sliders:

    Heelfan's Sliders: (popular)

    DaoudS Sliders:

    JT30 Sliders: (popular)

    2) Go to the Rosters board and download dkrause 360 roster (assuming you got a 360). Link:

    dkrause updated rosters (360):

    favre4vr ps3 rosters:

Maybe you should wait 1-2 weeks before starting a franchise with this roster as it is constantly being updated and not completely done yet.

To transfer files on the 360, you need a separated device called Datel Xchange 360 and a Memory Card. Here are some instructions on the process:

And here are eBay links to the device:

Here is what a user told me about the file transfer for the 360:

    There are two options:

#1: Datel Transfer Kit + Memory Card.
    #2: XSata

or #3:, you could mod your X360, but I don't have the balls to do that.

Datel Transfer Kit + MC is what everybody uses here. EB / Gamestop should carry it, and so should EBay.
As for PS3, I think it is achieved with a USB device. Read on the PS3 roster link for more info.

    3) I have yet to understand the whole Franchise bugs dilemna concerning trades and lineups getting messed up or injured players never coming back to the lineup. So, if someone could please post the best solution for all this without hindering the gameplay mechanics (I have read that in order to fix this we must turn trades off, but thats part of the fun of playing Franchise mode...). So let us know the solution...

UPDATE: Here is a good link with an indepth analysis of some of the problems on Franchise and some suggestions:

    In summary:

And Turn OFF CPU trading to start the season, unless you don't mind crazy trades that every sport game is riddled with (Zambrano for Matt Morris? Never would happen, but I've learned to expect it in sport games). I turn off CPU trades until late July. Then turn it back OFF after the 31st. But, with deadline off, you can still force trades with trade override to fix 60 Day DL problems.

That fixes my issues with franchise mode. Hopefully, for those that care a lot about the lineups (which I don't think are that bad to begin with), someone will edit their lives away. I'm not interested in testing that.
Well, thats it for now. Keep posting tips and I'll update them on main post.

Oh...I suggest a sticky if this is of any help. I myself haven't bought the game but would like to have a centralized 1 post to get all info when I get it.

I noticed pretty much all the sliders used are for classic hitting. Are there any popular ones for the swing stick?

Yea, all are for classic hitting. Most people are just using Swing stick with these set of sliders. Yet, I have no experience to tell you if the sliders must be adjusted for Swing Stick. It would be good to add on the post some Swing stick sliders as well as the pros and cons of using one configuration over the other.
