I remember in 2K6 if you fall behind 3 - 0 as the pitcher, the catcher normally positions himself right down the pipe as well. That's probably what's going on.

Yes, and it is normally the smart play. IRL most hitters have the hold sign on a 3-0 count, so throwing it down the middle to get a strike on the batter is smiled upon.

Why try to paint the corner when the hitter has the red light?

Sliders might help that, also, most Manager would want you to throw it right down the middle, most Managers hate walking guys! They would say let them hit it you can defend for a walk, but you can a hit ball.

The CPU will miss the middle late in the game when the pitcher is tired.

Turn down meat pitch to 0.

Is it just me.. or even when they throw it right down the pipe at 3-0, I end up hitting a ground ball anyway.

This happened to me twice with Manny and Big Papi in an exhibiton game. I was licking my chops too..

i'm not sure here but isn't a meat pitch a mistake, if the cpu intends on throwing it down the middle that shouldn't be a meat pitch.

I see this almost every time at 3-0 as well. I approach it by letting a top-notch hitter swing away if the situation calls for it, but rarely letting a lesser hitter swing. As was said earlier in the thread, this is how it is mostly handled in the majors...

I agree that more often than not, it seems if you swing at one of these, it doesn't usually work in your favor. I often hit the ball hard, but usually right at someone. Although I do remember hitting a big-time clutch grand slam on a 3-0 count...
