Re: hitting home runs too easy?
I've had power set to zero for a long time now. Still hit plenty of long balls.I am become death

I use classic, and yes, most of my HR's come when I 'try' for them. I wanna say I've hit a couple without the left stick, but I can't be sure.I am become death

Re: hitting home runs too easy?
Even with 'power' set at 0, you can still hit 4-5 Hr's a game with the uppercut swing. I have to force myself not to uppercut swing all the time. I would say that I only uppercut 15% of the time. And 9 games into my franchise I only have 8 team HR's. I had to restart my franchise because 9 games into the 1st one I had 3 guys with 7 Hr's and about 35 team Hrs.Comment

Re: hitting home runs too easy?
Yeah, I don't use it very often either. In my last game, in fact, I didn't use the left stick at all (not even for pull shots or to influence a grounder, etc.). Didn't hit any bombs, but had a couple warning track shots and still managed eight runs. Felt pretty nice. If I can hit a few over the fence without using the stick, I might just stop using it altogether.Last edited by Village Idiot; 03-06-2007, 02:38 AM.I am become death

Re: hitting home runs too easy?
For the record, I believe the major league average is between 2-3 HR's per game. The more I play, the more it seems to average out to that number...Comment

Re: hitting home runs too easy?
I can't seem to fix this, especially for 2 player games. We played on AllStar and had 14 HRs. Then we decided it was ridiculous and moved to Legend, then knocked down Power to 10 and moved up pitching difficulty. The result, 17 HRs, I had two players on the Orioles tie the MLB record for HRs in a game.
These were games played normally, working the strike zone, etc. It's not like we were throwing down the middle of the zone. we were playing to win. I had 15 hits, and 10 were HRs.
I'm at a loss on what to do to fix it. I can live with the fact that the fielding's not great, the lack of camera options, the sometimes choppy animations and framerate... but this HR stuff is ridiculous. It happens all the time. The CPU and I hit 12 total during a KC vs. Boston game on Allstar. I just don't know what to do. The game does alot right, but this is very wrong. April 16th can't come fast enough, I hope the Show 07 can do better.Comment

Re: hitting home runs too easy?
Homeruns are RIDICULOUSLY easy to hit in this game. Maybe it's because I'm playing as the Yankees, but I think I hit 7 homeruns against the Twins in my last game, most I weren't even trying for. I have contact set at around 35 - 40 and my power is at 0, and I still hit homeruns without any effort. I find it easier to hit homeruns than singles or doubles, to be perfectly honest.NY Rangers

Re: hitting home runs too easy?
What bugs me the most, other than the fact that I hit more HRs than triples, doubles and singles combined, is the way the ball comes off the bat.
As an example I hit one with Coco Crisp last night at Tropicana Field. It was an inside pitch that totally handcuffed me. The ball hit the bat about 6-8 inches above Crisp's hands yet I send it 380+ feet into the left-center stands. That type of pitch should've broken the bat and caused at best a bloop single over the SS. Maybe even a slow roller that Crisp could beat out.
I have seen this quite a few times where my swing is late and the ball to bat contact point is close to the hands. Yet the power behind the hit is as if I got full contact with head of the bat.
The physics in this game need some real tuning.
This is really starting to ruin an other wise solid game. I've even learned to deal with the poor fieling views.Comment
