    Dynamic Attendance?

    How does it work guys?

Say you are above .500 and winning ball games, you simply get bigger crowds, play bad ball and you dont get sellouts?

Or is it who you are playing, for example the Cubs-Sox, Mets/Sox-Yanks games would always sell out but the Yanks may not sell out against someone like the Rockies?

Do the non sell outs leave many empty seats etc? Do you get told the actual attendance?

Any ideas on how it works guys?

From everything that I have seen and read. It is a combination of everything that you mentioned. If your team is doing well then you will draw more fans, also the day of the game will draw more fans. i.e. a weekend series will draw more people than a game on monday or tuesday. I also think that playing your rivals will help attendence. I would also imagine that later in the year as games mean more as far as a playoff chase you will draw more people.

      Re: Dynamic Attendance?

from what i've seen they've done a good job with the dynamic attendance. Right now I have a franchise with Seattle, and my home opener I sold out two of the three games against a rival, oakland. Then after a little road trip I came back and played another rival in texas. I sold out one of those games and drew around 45,000 for the other two. (safeco holds about 47,500)Now I'm playing the twins midweek and the first night, a tuesday I left my ticket prices a little high and only drew 38,000. So the attendance depends on first what day of the week it is, weekends draw more than weekdays. Second is the team you're playing, if it's a rival or popular team as apposed to someone like the royals. And third the ticket prices, usually during the week i'll drop the prices a few bucks to get more people then move em up on the weekend. Hope that helps

Right after a home game, start menu (not far from game stats/boxscore) you should see "home team income"... you'll see the attendance listed among other interesting things.

Yeah, this is a really nice feature. They incorporated ticket prices with attendence and income very nicely.

Like he said... Once a game is over there are "My Income" and "Opponent Income" options for you to look at. The "My Income" will tell you how much you made that day, your attendance, how many sell-outs you've had thus far, year to date income etc. Opponent income will show there take on the game based on there TV contract and TV ratings for the game etc.

Playing the Giants and Mets I had very high ratings compared to playing the Nationals. Also you have to look at your "Fan Buzz" located in the sub-menu where you set your tickets prices if it is high then you won't have as much trouble drawing at your ball-park.

Sooo yes I can agree that the Attendance has a "Dynamic" involoved which simulates real MLB attendance varieties.

I was playing a 3 game set at Toronto and I won all three games. The thing I noticed was after each game, the next game attendance was lower, and you could tell by looking in the stands. The first game there were some people in the upper decks seats and in the outfield. Then in the second game those people were gone, and in the third game half of the field level seats were empty. They must hate losing.

yeah i was playing a weekend series A's-Twins. my franchise was doing okay, hovering above .500 a couple games out of first place. Oakland is known for low attendance, but the majority of the stadium was empty other than lower deck behind 1st and 3rd base...no one in the bleachers at all lol, i would expect mor fans for a haren-santana matchup. realistically you would see at least some fans in the bleachers since those are cheaper tickets

Sounds like a great little feature they have in then guys?

Something ive wanted in sports games for a long time, attendances that change with how your doing.

I hope they include the same thing in NBA 2K8.

                        Re: Dynamic Attendance?

I hope they take city areas/new ballparks/attendance history into account as well. New York is a metropolitan area, and the Yankees will always fill up quite nicely.

What's interesting though is how teams like the Braves never really sold well, even though they won 14 consecutive division titles (not counting 1994's strike season). I blame their lack of fan devotion for their losing great players for their poor season last year.

By the way, do marquee players do anything for the franchise? Like if Bonds and Pujols were traded to the Royals, would you see an instant spike in attendance?

Good point. Does anyone know if "Franchise" players being traded about would affect attendances?

I was pleasantly surprised to see the sparse crowd ("announced" at ~26,000 in the "Opponent Income" box) when I traveled down to the ATL early in the season in my GM mode game.

I am a Mets fan - I hate the Braves. That being said - what you stated here is FALSE. Everyone knows that the Braves have at times had trouble filling the stands in the postseason early rounds. That being said - during a majority of their run of 14 divisions they drew close to 3 Million fans a year for a majority of that time. Only the last couple of years has that noticably started to slide. I live in Atlanta so I see this first hand...and did I mention I hate the Braves too?
