    Zone pitching

I was having problems throwing anything but strikes with CLASSIC pitching. I didn't like the catcher calling the game as it felt like he was forcing me to throw a ball.

Tried ZONE pitching with my first season game this a.m, SD vs. SF. Works great, walked two, got my butt beat 7-12-0 to 4-8-1. Everything felt right.

yeah, Zone is tough. Especially if you put the pitch meter at 100.

          Re: Zone pitching

Zone is the only way to go. Zone pitching using breakpoint with interface speed at atleast 85 is awesome.

It is impossible to pinpoint your location and often makes you walk guys or hit guys when you dont want to. Also makes you leave meat pitches over the plate too.

Its great and makes the game 100 times better. And in actuallity it is only 1 additional button push compared to the payoff system.

agreed! I had an awsome game last night in which it really felt like Zito was getting tired. He lasted 8 shutout innings but left with runners on via bb's. Sure enough Benitez came in and blew it. I love how this is the nightmare scenario over and over again for Giants fans and it happened in the game. I can tell you I wasn't thinking about the Blue Jays lineup while I was trying to close out the game.

When I tried zone last night, the circle shrunk and I pressed a botton, then the horizontal ball came across and I pressed a botton but the final and vertical line never came across. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

                  Re: Zone pitching

i think zone2 is even harder but takes a bit longer, i still let the catcher call the game for me though then i don't have to think to much but i hardly ever hit his mitt anyways, only bad thing is i might have to readjust the cpu's hitting if i keep getting killed, lol.

                    Re: Zone pitching

i tried zone 1 a bit while the baby was sleeping for about 2 innings.....i found it to be much better also....

I tried like 70 but i think ill go for the 80-85 mark i think it is key.

I am getting annoyed with the catchers calling the pitchers best pitch like 95 percent of the pitches in the early innings too..... no way wang throw like 15 straight sinkers to every batter.....i also dont think he throws the sinker up in thier eyes either.....i hate that logic in these games.....

they see to throw the breking stuff in the eyes. now thats ok by accident like when you see the ball location because the pitcher f'ed up. but to do it intentionally is always a mistake in the majors why is it even in the choice of logic.

anyway the game is playing great, im finding it hard to even begin thinking about the ps3 offering and thats saying alot from me.

Dumb question, but how do I turn on zone and what is the difference between zone and the standard interface? Does it still have the power up and accuracy with the collapsing circle?

Yep, this is sort of saving the game for me. I swear I was throwing 95 % of my pitches over the plate on classic. Now I'm walking batters and my pitch counts are WAY up. The game is flat out fun to play, very immersive.

                          Re: Zone pitching

has anyone actually bought inside edge reports on a few hitters to see how the catcher calls the pitches for them compared to when he's calling the game for you w/o inside edge reports, ccurious if he still calls for quite as many balls, but i guess in real games the amount of pitches that are actually in the strike zone are probably a lot less thanout of the strike zone, a person needs it set up so the cpu swings at lots of balls instead of taking to many.

I think it's under the game options. Not positive........ It has the power up but the accuracy is allot different. Much harder.

One problem with Zone Pitching is at Comerica Park in Behind The Pitcher View.
The Progressive Direct sign is white or near white, making it difficult to see the horizontal circle racing across from left to right.
