Any Comparisons to MLB: The Show??

Just curious, My 2 favorite baseball games in recent history have been MVP 2005 on the Xbox and MLB: The Show on the PS2 which really captured the essence of baseball in my opinion. From fluid hitting and fielding down to the little nuances of baseball.

My question is, Has anyone who has enjoyed MLB: The Show as much as I, care to draw some gameplay comparisons with the MLB 2K7 on the 360?

Also, has anyone played BOTH the XBOX version and the 360 version of 2K7?

Aside from obviously higher resolution graphics, is it a much better gaming experience? I am quite dissapointed with 2K7 on the XBOX and am wondering if the 360 version is essentially the same experience with higher res graphics and more cut scene presentation work spackled in?

Thanks for your feedback. It will help me decide my next move

Well, I'll just say that this game IS NOT last years version of the XBOX with better graphics. The gameplays has been tightened, pitching/batter interface are just great, very immersive, great presentation.

The problem I had with The Show this year (and I only had the demo, but my friend has the game) was 1) the game looked dated (animations aside) 2) it appeared grainier than last years 3) and the stuttering in the gameplay (note, some are going to say there is no stuttering, but from what I've seen, my friend, and others it is annoying as heck).

This game, with it's flaws is just flat out fun and once you get your sliders set it plays really well. I've got the running down (which was confusing as all heck to me) and the game tweaked to my liking.

I think the hit variety is much better than The Show, but I don't like the fact that it lacks roster control of other teams. Under the hood is needs some major attention also, but gameplay wise I like it.

I second that my friend, it is just a blast to play. With a good set of sliders this game play real, at least to me.

This is great to hear...however, when you say it needs 'Under the hood it needs some major attention'...What do you mean? Is the statistical engine warped?...Is the individuality in the players broken? Is the Franchise busted?

        Please elaborate....

        Thanks

Well, all indications from the posts that franchise is really broken, however, I never play franchise mode. Perhaps look at those threads. Roster lineups get screwed up by CPU (mods here trying to fix that), player position subs screwed up (that has been remedied) and a few more things that I'm too tired to remember right now.

Loved the show last year, awesome gameplay and graphics.

This year, well they improved the gameplay , but the game has 2 big problems :

1.Stuttering - doesn't run as smooth as last years game, big framerate issues this year.

2.Graphics not as good as last year. The graphics last year were smooth and vibrant, this year they are too pixelated and not smooth.

These 2 things they didnt have to mess around with but they did for some reason. If they did not, it would have been a complete all round great game.

It's really hard to go back to play the show after playing 2k7. The show has better gameplay than 2k7, but the stuttering framerate really takes away from it. Right now for me 2k7 is so much more fun to play. I only play seasons in baseball games, not franchises, so 2k7 franchise issues don't concern me.

I hear ya on going back and forth between the two games. With that being said I still have more fun playing The Show. It's just a better baseball experience IMO.
I'll give you my breakdown of the two in the areas that matter most to me.

Batting: This goes to the show. 2k's batting feels off. Like the physics aren't quite there yet. Mvp is still the best to me.

Pitching: this one is really close. Probabley a tie both are very good.

Fielding: goes to the show easily IMO. It would be much closer if you had some options in 2k and they tone down the momentem just a notch.

Presentation: slight edge to the show. Again both very good. Commentary flows a little better in the show.

Atmosphere( by this I mean crowd reaction and overall feel of the game): This one goes to the show as well. 2k's game(all there sports games really) just feels hollow. you get a hit and the crowd roars for 5sec. then it just goes back to the crowd talking.

I'll throw this in for the heck of it. I think 2k did a great job of getting the players mannerisms done right. Some of them are freaky good. The battiing stances are very very good. the pitching motions aren't quite as good as the batters but they are very good also.
If the PS3 version of the Show has the same gameplay i might just sell my 360 for a PS3. Other than Halo I don't think I would be missing much as just about all other games I play are multi-console.

last year i got the show for ps2 and i liked it a lot. i gave mlb 2k7 a rent for 360 and i have liked it so far. im not liking the gameplay as much but i think its because im not yet used to it. the fielding i think could use somework. the presentation and graphics are amazing though. its a pretty good game though.

My advice would be to save your money this year and go back to playing MVP or The Show 06 for another year – which is what I’ve done after renting 2K7, and after reading about the slowdown problems (and other issues) with The Show 07.

2K7 is getting close, but it’s not quite there. Still too many programming issues left over from 2K5 and 2K6 IMO to warrant a purchase. If you want a single game, pick-up-and-play sort of baseball game experience that looks super, or if you just want to know you have a baseball game to play on your 360/PS3 console, by all means grab the game. It’s certainly playable this year, unlike 2K6.

Are we talkinga bout the next-gen versions?

Which game has better authencity? The show or 2K? In that i mean, which game has more accurate battering stances and mannerisms? 2K kept hyping up their authencity but a lot of batting stances are generic to me imho.

I agree about The Show-I had this year's version-nah. Last year's was better IMO. But, I'm surprised your'e not going with 2K this year? I see your point but you are a master of slider tweaks and advice in general. Would like to see more of what you've done to tweak this game. I've already used some of your advice and it worked pretty good for me. This game(2K) is NOT playable out of the box. I think for me,-the camera angles need some more options and I'd like to see some more foul balls and working the count in a more efficient way.

I'm voting for 2K. But I'm sure opinions are gonna be are all over the place. I do like the atmosphere and general feel of 2k this year. Being i don't know everyone's batting stance I can't comment on that.

I was comparing The Show PS2 to 2k7 for 360 but I didn't mention graphics.

As far as authenticity goes, 2k7 is great. They got the Red Sox batting stances and plate routines almost perfect. Dice-K's motion is ok in 2k7 but the show nailed it.

Im surprised at the oppinions here, I had allways heard the show was "the Game" when it came to basesball. i figured while MLB2k was turning into a competitive title, the die hards would probably still favor the show. I have never played the show by the way or any other recent baseball title for that matter, but it sounds like 2k must have done a pretty good job turning this franchise around based on last years oppinions.

I believe so-once you find sliders that work for you. They have so many that one can offset another. A game of balance for sure. I'm just speaking for my self when I say the Show didn't work for me this year. They did make alot more sliders available.
