Help guys! I'm desperate.

I'm hoping someone else has some advice to share. After playing the game a TON including playing 45 games, making all the player edits and settling on the best sliders,... I've encountered the dreaded franchise freeze. This was not during a game, but within the menu interface. There was no error message, just a screen freeze. After restarting several times, it happened within the franchise in different screens (player trades, schedule, player stats) every time so there seems to be no specific feature that locks up. It seems like I corrupted the entire franchise file somehow. I had to delete the file and this was HUGELY dissapointing.

I can't figure out what happened. Before last night there have been ZERO freeze issues in gameplay and everywhere else. The only thing I can think of is that I did try to reset the cache in order to clean up the framerate before this happened. But this as the problem doesn't make much sense because as I understand it, resetting the cache is actually suggested to resolve freezing.

I just want to know if anyone else has encountered a lock up within the franchise feature. I need to know what happened so as I start all over, it doesn't happen again.

I just started a franchise so I haven't seen this happen yet. I think what I am going to do is periodically back up my franchise and save it 2 times in case this happens to me. Probably going to do a backup file after every series. So if this happens I only loose 2 or 3 games.

Sandmac, I don't have any suggestions outside of the "dual backups" that Heelfan mentioned. Just wanted to throw you some sympathy. That blows.

Well, I'll have to remember to do that when I'm ready to start my franchise. good tip Heelfan.

Yeah, the backup thought occurred to me as well. I wonder if I should backup onto a memory card so as to remove the HD as a possible issue. I spoke to 2KSports earlier and the dude had never heard of the freeze issue outside of games. I just wish I knew how I corrupted the file to begin with because it's not like the playing/saving I'll do in the future is going to be any different...

Clearing the cache gets rid of any updates, which could be causing roster conflicts in your Franchise or some other issue. I am sure I'm wrong but perhaps it will spark someone elses mind as to why you're having that problem.

I had actually thought about that. It makes some sense if his save was created with an updated version of the game and he reverted to the original. That could potentially cause a conflict. I don't know that there's been any updates for this game though as I don't have it yet. I know some people mention being asked to download an update but some said it was just rosters. But I don't recall any roster for any game using the "There is an update on XBOX Live for this game..." popup before loading the game. It's usually in game menus that allow you to get rosters.
