Newb Q? what will help Franchis or GM mode be playable

I just got the game and I noticed that there has been some discussions/arguments about how the Franchise mode and GM career mode is broken.

I would like to know what options should I turn on/off to make it at least slightly playable. Should I turn offinjuries, trades....etc.

    Thanks

I think saying Franchise is "broken" overstates the case a bit. The main problems to date seem to be poor management decisions by the AI (screwy lineups, poor trades) and scoring errors in games played on the field (walked in runs not counting as earned). These are bugs that should be fixed, preferably in a patch, but I would guess for most people they do not "break" (as in make unplayable) the Franchise mode. You can reduce the AI goofiness by turning off injuries and AI trades, though you will have to decide if the loosing the features those features is worth it (personally, I do not). Obviously, there is nothing that can be done about scoring errors on our end.<o></o>

Baseball is a complex sport in a lot of ways, and to be fair, most console and computer baseball game series (including High Heat and MVP) suffered from scoring errors and incompetent AI lineup and transaction decisions to one degree or another. AI in any game is not going to be as intelligent as a human, nor is it going to understand that "such and such a player is a big star with a history of hitting home runs and never dream of batting higher than 3rd;" it can only look at player ratings to build lineups. The formula it uses may need some tweaking, but even at its best I have yet to meet the AI manager that sets a lineup consistently mimicking its real life counterparts. One should also keep in mind that even real human managers can do screwy things with lineups: power hitters with good OBP batting 1st or 2nd, .300 hitters batting 8th or 9th, and Tony Larussa batting his guys in an order seemingly developed by chimpanzees typing randomly.<o></o>

I guess when it comes down to it, I view MLB2K7 in the same light as MVP03, taking the remnants of a poor series and remaking it. Granted, even at its worse 2K Sports had a better starting point than EA had in Triple Play, and it does boggle the mind how some simple scoring bugs remain in the game after being highlighted in so prominently in 2k6. But, MLB2K7 was intended to rebuild and revitalize the on field play, the heart and soul of any arcade baseball game, with fixes to Season and Franchise mode coming later. If two years from now we still have the same scoring errors, the some dumb AI management, no minor league stats, etc. that we have now, I with the rest of you in condemning the game. But right now, MLB2K7 does deliver on field more or less as promised, and I can forgive a few bugs and imperfections until a patch or even next years version.<o></o>
