Why in the world does the bullpen stink?
I play with the Mets, one of the best pens in the league mind you.......I go 6 strong with Perez somehow and he gives up 0 runs, but Nolasco of FLA also has held me to 0, I bring the pen in with Heilman Sosa and Sanchez to finish out the game, they come in and just got smashed, i made no mistakes with pitches, hit the corners perfectly, had no mistake pitches and all 3 of them got rocked with double after double and then like 5 HR's to top it all off and i got crushed 11-2..........The guys warmed up right, had 100% and hit their spots, what the hell happened, is this normal or was it just a fluke of a game?Tags: None -
Re: Why in the world does the bullpen stink?
I've been having just the opposite problem. My starters rarely get out of the first inning without giving up a run or two, but my closers and relievers are money. Heilman isn't as good in the game as he is IRL IMO. I think that your game was more of a fluke than anything. -
Re: Why in the world does the bullpen stink?
I'm having the same problem as Pmogs. My bullpen is getting rocked and it's killing my team.
For example:
Starters:
Lilly - 2.25
Prior - 3.02
Zambrano - 3.68
Marquis - 3.70
Hill - 4.65
Bullpen:
Nathan - 2.11
Eyre - 4.20
Wood - 5.73
Dempster - 5.95
Fuentes - 6.04
Howry - 7.32
Cotts - 12.86
I hate how I lose every single close game becuase of my bullpen. They give up a homerun every game, even on unhittable pitches. It's starting to get on my nerves.Comment

Re: Why in the world does the bullpen stink?
I REALLY agree with this sentiment of the bullpen stinking.
However, maybe it's because I play with the Giants. However, more or less, I end up being scared to go to some of my relievers (like Vinnie Chulk) because I KNOW deep down inside they will get rocked.XBox 360 GT: XFactor416Comment

Re: Why in the world does the bullpen stink?
Same thing happened to me also, but over time their era's came back down to normal levels. Broxton at one point had an era of over 5 and now its down to around 3.8. Ive found that most times the CPU's bullpen is horrible, they always seem to come in and throw gasoline on the fire.Comment

Don't bring in the pen. Thats what i do. My starters usually go 7 to 8 and i usually can only trust my closer.Comment

R: Why in the world does the bullpen stink?
I have had mixed results with my pen playing as the Angels.
One thing I do whenever bringing in a reliever is check how the upcomming batters are rated in power/contact vs rhp/lhp and mix and match and pitch around hitters where necessary.
The problem with my team hasnt benn the bullpen or the offense, for me its the rotation. Besides Colon, everyone else has a fat ERA. It doesnt help either that Escobar tore an elbow ligament and is out for 100 days along with Saunders his replacement.
Colon also hurt himself in his last start and is out ten days. I swear every pitch I throw I envision the red cross popping up right after telling me my guy is hurt.Angels World Series Championships : 2002

Re: Why in the world does the bullpen stink?
Ive had same problem with the Angels and using NJpapis sliders. All starters era's are great through a first month almost, with two having an era below 1.0. No matter what though once 7th inning hits, cpu goes on a hit parade, doesnt matter if its the starter or a reliever. Ive seen crapload of posts on this in other forums, I really believe its just part of the game that the cpu will make a run once a game hits a certain point. Ive had numerous games where this happens around the 7th, the cpu ties or takes the lead, and literally the next 3 batters do absolutely nothing, pretty odd.Comment
