What's a decent team to be?

I was having a hard time deciding what team I wanted to be for either franchise or GM. I want a team isn't at the top but has the potential to get there with the right amount of tweaking and work. I want a relatively young team with a few bright spots but not too good. Any suggestions?

Cleveland, Toronto, Cincy, LA Dodgers? Those teams could be close with the right moves and players having good years.

I was thinking Dodgers and Indians, but I was thinknig the Indians would be too good with Sizemore, Hafner, and Martinez. The Dodgers could be something if the right players have enough years, I was never really fond of the Reds and BJays.

I'd recommend the Jays. I just started up a franchise, as I was doing too good with the Sox and was quickly bored (using Heel's sliders). Pretty good team, with great power and decent pitching. However, it will be very tough playing to beat the Sox and Yankees.

I started my franchise by dealing for a starter that can eat some innings aside from Halladay. So, I dealt Overbay, Frasor, and a minor leaguer to the Diamondbacks for Livan Hernandez and Tony Clark. I lose some offense with Overbay leaving, but I needed the starting.

What I like is after one game, I can tell no game is safe unless my starters can go 8 and get to Ryan in the 9th. If my starters go less than 8, it's going to be very tough putting my faith into League and the rest of the subpar relievers on my squad.

Dodgers. A good pitching rotation with a nice mix of young players and a few seasoned vets . Plus, Dodger Stadium in theory-is not an easy place to hit homers. That can help with home games , going up against someone who can send em' out there.

I'm the Texas Rangers and loving it. I signed Mulder and Cliff Floyd and both have come up huge early on.

This game is perfect with slider adjustments and the right team. I started with Detroit and Cleveland, before I found the Rangers. Had to stop being the Mets because I'm so sick and tired of using the same damn team year after year...

Maybe the Dodgers, but I'm not really into Jeff Kent. If I traded him, you guys think that would be unrealistic? Wonder who I can snag for him...

I don't know why, but I prefer choosing stadiums, over teams.

Even as a Jays fan, and being from Toronto, I struggle to play with the Jays. I just don't enjoy playing home games there.

Yea I just chose the Dodgers and played my first game. Russell Martin hit a HR and I won 6-1. It was a good team effort.

Good choice. Jeff Kent was mentioned on page one here. Say what you will about him-but he gets RBI's and he'll nail that double play more than not(experienced fielder, old or not). As a person,he is a dink-but I want wins, and he helps get em'.

Lets see... The Brewers would be good, The Rockies, The Orioles, The Mariners. Those are all good choices.

I have a GM w/ the Phillies, but it's way too easy. My offense is just crazy w/ Utley and Howard and the supporting cast.

I have started another GM mode w/ the Devil Rays, and that is a lot of fun. In GM mode w/ them you really have to meet your goals because if you don't then you cannot compete. I think I'll eventually be using this GM mode the most.

I never liked them before *but* I really love using the Rockies lately. I can't stand Helton.. But Holliday, Hawpe.. are awesome IMO. I really like Troy Tulowitzki, and Jeff Franics is a stud too. Just wish their uniforms didn't suck so much haha.
