    How far should Soriano.......

be able to throw the ball on the fly from the warning track at Wrigley ??? The reason I ask this is because I'm running some tests with lower throwing ratings for players. Even with the throwing sliders set to zero, it still seems as though outfielders and infielders still throw to hard.

Thus far I'm liking my results (more testing to follow) but I just had a play where the ball was hit in the gap to right center, Soriano fielded the ball in the grassy area just before the warning track and fired it home to get the runner advancing to the plate from second. His throw landed just short of the infield and two hopped to a waiting Zambrano who relayed to the catcher. The play was close at the plate but the runner just beat it out.

Does this seem right for a throw by Soriano ??

I am really getting some good results with these lower arm ratings for the fielders. Closer plays at first and throws from the outfield one hopping to the second baseman all dependent on where the throw came from of course. Seems pretty damn accurate to me for the most part. Just
not sure about that Soriano play.

Any help would be greatly appreciated???

Not sure how good his arm is (I've only seen him play 2nd) but last year he led the MLB in OF assists (22) so he may be a bad person pick. They may have given his arm a good rating as a result of that stat.

The outfielders in this game are extremely accurate I've noticed. I hit a bunch of shot down the line that bounce around off the wall, and the OF always nails my guy running to 2nd for a double. I upped the baserunner speed to compensate, but their throws are never off line.

I also have the baserunning slider at 100 and the throwing sliders all at zero, but prior to starting my testing it still felt like the fielders had rocket arms. Not as bad as last year but still there !!! The beautiful thing is that with the lower throwing power ratings for the individual players I'm experimenting with (Cubs and Whitesox) I have seen some throws go offline. In fact, Brian Anderson of the Sox (controlled by me) was throwing to third base from medium depth in right center and his throw was wide left of the third base bag (to the home plate side of 3rd base). The individual player ratings also has a rating for THROW ACCURACY so that could also be lowered to achieve better results.

I really like how the infield play is now with the lower throwing power ratings for the players. Double plays can still be turned but the play at first is much closer like it should be all dependent on who's running to first, where the ball was fielded and what kind of throw the infielder has to make (i.e. across his body). I've seen successful double plays and plays where the runner beat out the throw to first. Overall it has a very realistic feel to it.

The outfielders I've modified may need to be bumped up some because their throws seem to die a little sooner than they should be but I'm kind of on the fence with this one. That's why I asked the question about Soriano. The play in question, his throw hit the ground in the outfield grass a few feet short of the infield dirt and two hopped to Zambrano who was standing between the pitchers's mound and first base. The throw was made from the warning track in right center (closer to dead center than right field).

Does anybody have any knowledge on the Soriano question ?? In the given situation, where should his throw first touch ground ??? Maybe you could suggest another Cub or Sox player to experiment with. Give me a name and where this player's throw should touch ground based on where he threw it from. This is easiest enough to test for outfielders that I'm controlling as I just move players out of the way and let the ball land in the outfield

Trust me on this guys, I'm not just blowing smoke here.....this really works !! Maybe some of our roster gurus can pick up on this and incorporate this into their roster work. At this point I have all of the infielder's and outfielder's throwing power ratings set at 50% of their default on my testing teams. Still going to do some more testing today.

Any help on the requested information is much appreciated

Was that a product of his arm being that good or because teams were just running like crazy against him because his arm isn't that great? I mean, Manny had a pile of assists too and while his arm is decent it's not easily confused with Vlad's.
