    Swing Stick Help (360)

Can anyone give some tips on timing the swing stick?
I want to use it but cant hit ANYTHING with it, not kidding.

I know what the manual says about timing the step but I cant get it.

    When should I pull back?
Before the ball comes out or after it is in the air?

Seriously cant get this thing and its frustrating.

The perfectly timed step (pull back) is right about when the pitcher releases the ball.

Also, try using contact swings (release the stick) as opposed to power swings (pushing forward) until you get the hang of the timing.

I suggest trying some home run derby to get in a bit more practice.

Keep at it, it's well worth it. The swing stick is much more rewarding of an experience than just hitting a button.

I thought the perfectly timed step was as the pitcher brings the ball back, not as he releases it..
      Just wondering..

        Re: Swing Stick Help (360)

I just recently had a breakthrough after having a similar problem as the original thread poster. I pull the stick back right as the pitcher released the ball, when most batters would go into their leg kick or whatever they do before the pitch arrives. I could only hit fastballs well and would constantly misjudge pitches. Now I detect pitches much better out of the pitcher's hand and that's the biggest factor for me for making contact.

Also, the 2nd poster was right about using mainly a contact swing. I've had some well timed contact swings go out for homers but mainly good contact and I hit ground balls through the holes for hits, line outs, pop outs, gap doubles, a good mix of hits. I usually only go for a power swing with my main power hitters or if I guess the location right. Before this breakthrough I had trouble manufacturing runs and would rely almost exclusively on home runs to score. Not anymore.

My tip is look offspeed and react to fastballs. If you swing late on a fastball you could still hit it opposite field, if you swing early you aren't going to hit anything. Also, pull back the swing stick right around the pitcher's release and don't get in the habit of always swinging at the first pitch. Work counts, don't swing on 2-0 counts, 3-0 usually it's right over the middle so you can swing away if you like. Tire the pitcher out, etc. Hope this helps.

This has been working for me.

Not sure if its just my reactions or what , but when he brings his arm back is working well.

In 2K6, the game gave you feedback on your step timing. It would tell you if the timing was too soon, perfect, or late. The step timing with the SS is unchanged from 2K6, but for some reason, the developers removed the feedback of your performance with each step in. In 2K6, the perfect step was right before the pitcher releases the ball. Since the mechanic has not been changed in 2K7, I'll assume that it's the same as 2K6. If you just can't understand it, then maybe spend 4 dollars and rent 2K6. It should play long enough to get it.
