Arm speed or lack of friction?
It seems like throws from deep in the outfield make it to the plate too easily on a bounce or two.

Re: Arm speed or lack of friction?
Most sliders sets you'll find have both Human and CPU throwing ability set to zero. It includes everybody(infielders, outfielders, and catchers). How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year. Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here. -

Re: Arm speed or lack of friction?
That's what I have mine at,and coupled with the 0 arm strength, makes for (imo) the ideal setting.People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.“I believe the game is designed to reward the ones who hit the hardest – If you can’t take it, you shouldn’t play!” Jack Lambert“Quarterbacks should wear dresses.” Jack LambertComment

Re: Arm speed or lack of friction?
there is good friction on batted balls just not on throws, that said the cpu on almost all occasions uses the cutoff man this yr., so basiclly you can advance properly on hits, i've scored many times from 1st on doubles to the wall.Comment

Re: Arm speed or lack of friction?
IMO the throwing strength slider effects the trajectory of the throw more so than the speed. If it's up high the OF's will throw a frozen rope from any distance, but if it's low they'll throw a lollypop to the plate even from shallow OF. Regardless, the ball actually travels the same speed."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: Arm speed or lack of friction?
Getting a chance to watch some real baseball these past couple weeks, I'm more or less convinced the arm strength issue is not really an issue at all. Lots of throws are a bit too accurate, but in terms of the velocity of the throws most of them are fine. I have all the throw speeds at 50 and don't have any issues.
Try throwing a guy out at first after he singles to right - it won't even be close; balls that get to the wall are almost always doubles, if not triples. It's not nearly as big of a problem as people have made it out to be.I am become death

Re: Arm speed or lack of friction?
This is exactly what I find. I have the runner speed at 100, and I've had a few decent speed guys thrown out on a dime at second on balls that rolled around in the gap. The throw speed if ok, it's just that every throw is a dead on laser.Let's Go Yankees!

Re: Arm speed or lack of friction?
Compared to MLB? If you set the OF Arm slider at 0, and then edit players' arm ratings 20%, then yeah, I agree with you.Comment

Re: Arm speed or lack of friction?
Grass friction = big issue. Dirt friction = not so much.
And players should be throwing more on a line. At the same time, the ball should slowly reduce a little bit of speed once reaching its destination (air friction). I brought up a very interesting article earlier this year that explains why we don't see more 500 foot home runs (or more home runs in general), and if I find it again I'll show it here.
I just wish that they also had a better camera angle, too. I mean, I remember in WSB 2K3 people complained too much that everything in the game looked floaty. I think this contributed more to the camera angle than the game actually being floaty. So if they went for a better gameplay camera or for a realistic broadcast camera, I think that would take away people's conjectures that the outfield really is as small as it is. I think it would help if the player/field proportion was maybe just a little smaller as well.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Arm speed or lack of friction?
Throws are already deadly accurate. What do you mean? Get rid of the rainbow throws for the weak-armed players? Because there I would agree with you.
But you see it's obvious what Kush did to 'fix' the no-friction issue. They didn't actually fix the issue: they just screwed up the way weak-armed OF's throw, to make it sort of look like the problem is fixed, LOL. Typical game programming for that crew.Last edited by baa7; 03-24-2007, 08:40 AM.Comment

Re: Arm speed or lack of friction?
what i did was edit the players attributes and lowered arm strength by 20 and put all accuracy to 0. took some time but has made the game much more enjoyable. I see more off throws and guys still get thrown out but its more due lack of running speed. they still need to do something about the throws rolling home all the way from the outfield walls.Comment
