Now this is a big deal to me. I am allways the team with fewest walks in the stat column. This year there is 8 other teams wih less them me so far. The stats in general for my Giants are very accurate so far.

How's your strikeouts? I'm getting 4-6 walks per game because I am very selective at the plate, but I'm paying for it with too many k's IMO. 8-10 is too high.

Whats missing in the game is the ability to foul tip pitches with 3-2 counts. I've yet to have a nice 10 pitch at bat with tons of foul tips. Once you've been fooled on a pitch, you miss it. That's why I have no problem with sliders that generate more walks.

you nail it right there....thats exactly what is missing in the great batter pitcher interface of this game...if we could foul tip the ball more, just to protect the strike zone like they do in real life, i think all those problems would be gone.

Yup, and increasing contact slider won't make a difference.

So, my dilemma is: go back to MLB 07 which has improved greatly where I walk 3x per game and only K 5x, but get 12 hits on 3 runs (poor stats here) Some great 10 pitch at bats with tons of fouls...

or...play 2K7 where my hit to run ratio is close to real life, walk 4-5x and k-10x? with 2 HR's per game?

Baseball really is the hardest game to simulate in video games.

I've been saying this since day one of the release. Why they didn't add a foul ball slider is beyond me. Either that,or I just don't know how to bat. Added note :I can get too impatient when I start getting too many K's on my scorecard-errr.

You get more foul tips when you use the left stick. If I get a low and outside pitch and push the stick to that direction I foul off quite a few pitches.

What about if you're aimimg outside but they pitch you inside, can you get a piece of the ball to stay alive on 3-2?

Unlike some players, I can't aim while the pitch is being thrown, I pre-aim my swing.

Nobody is saying they have problems getting walks, We were discussing the high strikeout ratios in the game.

Now if your were to say "I hardly strikeout and hit tons of foul tips on 3-2 counts" I'd be very impressed with your post.

More on walks. The next game i played they intentionally walked Barry twice when i had runners on 2nd and then 3rd. Preety sweet. I also got 2 more walks this game with Winn and Roberts. Roberts leadsm my team in walks as a lead off man that is a good thing Lovin it!

I walk a decent amount as the Yanks. I'm 12 games in and A-Rod has 8 BB's by himself. The D-Rays were terrified to pitch to him in the opening series, he had 5 alone that three game set.

On 3-2 counts, in order to protect the plate you have to basically have the mind set you are taking the pitch. (i.e. don't pull back on the swing stick to stride). Then, if the pitch looks like it is going to be a strike, push forward on the swing stick to defend the plate. There is no way to defend the plate per say, if you stride and wish to hit the ball but get fooled.

wow! really? push foward! man, i gotta try this right way..i hope it works...if so, this would be the smartest baseball game ever...casue this "defend plate" buttom, is something i was aways looking for in baseball game...

well i just tried..although i saw great foul balls when pushing foward...i found extremily hard to make contact with it..and icant see me usiong it as a defensive swing...
i mean its just way too hard to make contact with it....i wish we had something like this but easier to make contact than the regular contact swing.
