Any tips on pitching (retiring batters)?
I am getting better on the default level, but I am still need some pointers on how to get more out(s). I've been pitching more toward inside with sliders and with high speed pitches toward the outside and high. This has help me a great deal. I have gone from allowing 14 runs a game to about 6-9 runs a game.Tags: None -

Try to keep the ball low in the zone. The K on this game is to get people out without actually throwing a strike. When the CPU gets a guy on base, throw off speed and breaking pitches looooooow in the zone, near the dirt, there is a good chance of getting a double play. However, make sure those pitches are inside, because most often your infield lines up to play against a pull hitter, and a gentle little poke on low and away off speed stuff can make it through the hole in the infield. -

My biggest suggestion is mix up your pitch sequence. And change the eye level of the batter. That's what has worked best for me. I'm also a fan of the high and tight fast ball or cutter, and the low and outisde breaking pitch. Location, location, location.Comment

Change speeds, change heights. I find that if you change the batter's eye level you'll get more k's. Of course, I use the Zone 2 and if you leave one hanging, forget it...Let's Go Yankees!

Re: Any tips on pitching (retiring batters)?
1. Pay careful attention to each pitch's corresponding pitch. For example, if you back-door a couple sliders or curves for strikes, notice that you can now throw a change or fastball outside the zone to give the illusion of that same back-door pitch. (Remember, the idea is for them to swing at balls and take strikes.)
2. It's all about sequence. Work the entire at-bat. There's nothing like throwing a steady diet of heat to a guy for four or five pitches and then unleashing the change or breaking ball for the next two or three. If you're hitting your spots with the right sequence, you'll know before you even throw the ball you're going to K the guy.I am become death
