Is there anyways for my pitcher to get walks
I can draw walks when I am batting, but when it comes to pitching I can't walk the cpu. I have the pitcher difficulty set at 100 and I don't pitch right down the middle. I think this is one of the hardest things to emulate in a baseball game. Any tips?Gametag JetsfanSINY79Tags: None -

Turn off vibration.
Turn off Strike Zone vision.
Maybe up your fatigue pitcher slider? I dunno.XBox 360 GT: XFactor416 -

All of these suggestions and switch to either Zone or Zone2 pitching. These are less forgiving when it comes to accuracy. Poor accuracy tends to send your pitch farther off the plate than the payoff (default) pitching interface does. Also aim for the corners when pitching. I really like the Zone 2 pitching and will usually give up 2-4 walks a game, especially at a 100 difficulty. If it's too hard at 100, then just back it down until you are comfortable with your results.XBL Gamertag: hoos4974

Re: Is there anyways for my pitcher to get walks
Zone is definitely the way to go as far as the control concerns go. Payoff is simply too easy and too pinpoint.
However, if you're set on Payoff, the key is sliders. You have to have the right combination of AI Contact, Take Ball and Take Strike slider settings. I'd also recommend cranking the AI Effectiveness Mod slider up to 100. What you're trying to accomplish is to make it dangerous to pitch into the strikezone, meaning you have to intentionally throw a lot of balls hoping the CPU will chase. At the same time though, you don't want the CPU going after every ball you throw. Plus, you don't want the Contact so high that the CPU hits everything in the strikezone. Like I said, it's finding that balance.Comment

Is zone pitching were you have to line the circle up vertical and horziontal? I really would like to keep using the defualt pitching, but if zone gives me more walks then I will give it a shot.Gametag JetsfanSINY79Comment

Why in the good lords name are you TRYING to walk people?
I don't have the game, but if there is a intentional walk option you could walk a bunch of guys that way.Comment

Yes, people aren't "trying" to walk batters they just don't want to throw strikes all the time. There is the same problem with zone pitching that was in last years game.
If you REALLY miss lining up the circles far too many times the batter is rewarded with a FAT pitch. It would be okay if the batter was rewarded sometimes, but not nealy as much. When you really miss the ball should be in the dirt, but then there might also be too many wild pitches.....
They certainly need to tweak this next year.Comment

Yes, I'm walking people (remember, I just "chuck" it and don't try to be too fine), but it needs a bit of tweaking. I just wish when I really missed there weren't as many fat pitches, but you're right, it's better.Comment

Re: Is there anyways for my pitcher to get walks
I'm half sarcastic and half serious. That is, I agree with baa7 that this has a lot to do with sliders: you have to have them set so that you're inclined to throw balls in the first place. If the CPU is taking every ball you throw, there's no reason to ever throw one; but if you get a nice percentage of swing-and-misses on pitches outside the zone, all of a sudden throwing a ball on a 3-2 count doesn't seem so crazy. Likewise, if the CPU isn't hitting you (i.e. when you throw strikes) you have no fear coming inside - another aspect related to sliders.
The key is to find a balance where the CPU swings at balls and is dangerous when you throw strikes. There needs to be some pressure on you (the pitcher) to pick your spots as to when to throw strikes. If you're throwing strikes all game long and still winning, you've got slider issues, IMHO.I am become death

Wasn't supposed to be, I'm serious. When you play an arcade game the skill of the REAL player, the human determines much of what happens. Unless you are playing coach mode, I wouldn't worry about the numbers not working out exactly right. The gamepad has the majority of influence over this.Comment
