    Batting System...

i've got mixed emotions about the batting in this game. for one, i've neer hit a ball with a late or early swing. all my hits regardless o where i put the ball into play, seem to be directly over the plate. second, i've had alot on 3rd strike swings were the ball will go right through the bat. are there others who are playing this game having these issues? i haven't played to much with the swing stick. would i have better results with that setting?...
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

I'm a button swinger all the way, but with this game you definitely have to try the swing stick. While I still prefer zone hitting to the timing nonsense in 2K7, the swing stick does add a dimension of skill and fun. Crank up the Step Influence slider to 100, then tinker with the Contact and Power sliders until you like what you're seeing. As with most games, getting the hitting to feel right is all about slider settings.

Whats your contact setting at? If its really low then you are going to find yourself swinging at pitches and missing a lot. I thought I read on here yesterday that the contact rating is somewhat similar to the size of the sweet spot on the bat and the higher it is the more likely you are to atleast make contact, hope that made sense.

Raising contact will not eliminate this problem. Raising contact will improve the hit variety "if" you make the proper contact, meaning your timing is right on.

Poor contact is complicated in many games. Yes, I agree that there are balls I swing at that should at least be foul tipped or weakly hit for an out instead of swing and completely miss. They need to make some significant strides for next year's game.

There are some serious flaws in the hitting game. I just realized that after 9 games, I only score runs on HR's? Never do I get a double with men in scoring position and score runs that way. I hit 7 HR's in today's game. Part of the problem is I've got the inside pitch timing down and can sit on a fastball and hammer it. Slider adjustments will reduce this somewhat. However, my fear is, that I can only score big runs on HR's, then why hinder my only chance of scoring.

I hope I'm wrong on this, but putting together 3 or 4 consecutive hits seems too rare. Could be a contact issue as well. If you make excellent contact, you simply hit HR's not doubles or basehits.

Through almost 30 games in my GM, Ive had numerous times where Ive gotten 3 singles in a row and scored, 3 singles in a row and not scored thanks to slow runners, bases clearing doubles and triples with the bases loaded, Im playing with the Dodgers and since our power sucks as it is, this is the only way I can score runs.

Well, you've provided proof that scoring on extra base hits is "in the game". I need to tone down contact. Power is already low. So it must be the contact. Also, maybe pitch speed needs to be raised.

Come to think of it, I do get singles with men on second but can't bring them around to score which is frustrating. I get thrown out by a mile!

Yeah, as of late, that's the only way I'm getting runs... I can't hit a HR to save my life at the moment, after Griffey rocketed out to quite a few HR's in the first month, I haven't hit one in quite a few games. The last one I hit barely made it over the wall.

Other players, I may hit 1 every 2-3 games... (total combined)... most of my runs come from either a Griffey single RBI, Dunn double RBI, or just consecutive hits.

I'm the ChiSox, last game I played, I got 4 hits in a row. 2 doubles and 2 singles. It was a thing of beauty. Hit only one homer that game as well and won 7-3. Its definitely possible.

I dont even know. I've been using a modified version of Heels sliders but I cant tell you how much changing I've done. I've been only able to squeeze in 2 games in the last week.

i've scored from 1st on doubles to the wall, make sure you have outfielders speed at 30-35 for both as it then takes them a bit longer to get the ball, user running speed at 100 and outfielders arms at 0, i have no problem running or scoring on any hit to the outfield.
