Losing in the bottom of the 9th...

    ...is awesome?

I was cruising through my season at 12 - 3. Everything all season had fallen my way, the computer stranded 13 in one game. I had 3 come from behind wins.

But... in my last 2 games I have rocked Joe Borowski in the top of the 9th to regain a lead only to have Huston Street blow it two nights in a row!!! So frustrating, yet sooooooo much fun!

Havent had the long term success you had since Im only 11-19 but bringing Saito into the game is playing with fire, he either gets into a jam and gets out of it or gets into a jam and doesnt, but he is always getting into a jam. Last game he blew a 4 run lead against San Diego, nearly traded him right then and there.

I traded for Street a week into the season b/c Casey Fossum was my closer. Nearly every pitch was just a guess as to where it would go.

Street went a quick 3 for 3, now he is 3 for 5.

Hehe, I am 9-10 as the Giants. Benitez is 6 for 7 in save opps. Unfortunately, my offense is what sucks, and since I don't allow any trading, my slumping offense needs to come out of it on their own.

I've noticed that the composure rating might be the most important factor for relievers in terms of effectiveness late in the game.

Yeah....but nearly everytime I've put Rivera in late in the game he's tense, and when I used payoff pitching, it was a guess for where the ball would end up. His composure rating was nearly full. Not sure what's happening.

Yea, I'm in the same boat as you man, I dont understand that much either. Rivera is the only guy I can count on in those innings recently tho lol

A mound visit will do wonders when the ball is bouncing all over the place.

I found that mound visits to Street in the 9th result in him gaining more composure than with any other player. He goes from 0 to 4 or 5 nearly every time. I gave up 2 singles to start the top of the 9th tonight, did a mound visit and got a DP then a ground out to win 4-3.

It is very strange about Rivera in this game. I have the same issues, he should be the most composed guy on the whole game! I bumped his composure up a bit but he still gets tense too easy. Weird? I signed Jeff Nelson back to the Bronx and I use him often too along with Farnsworth! It seems like Farnsworth is more calm than The Sandman?

Re: Losing in the bottom of the 9th...

I just had the awesome experience of the 9th inning loss...

Okay, I'm playing against the Tribe at Jacobs... They score 1 in the 1st inning due to my ignorance, and then score across another in the 7th. Borowski comes in and attempts the save, but Griffey Jr is able to drive a 2 run HR opposite field, in what are they tying runs. It was only my 6th hit of the day.

I am thinking, GREAT... EXTRA INNINGS. But I left Milton in, as he still had some gas left in him... but with 1 out, I got rocked by a walk off home run to win the game for the Tribe. It wouldn't have hurt so bad, but it was against the cross state rivals, lol. It sucked, but man, it was awesome.

Re: Losing in the bottom of the 9th...

                      Yeah this game is great.

I was playing last night in my Cardinals dynasty, anyway I'm playing the Astros, I'm up 4-2 heading to the top of the 9th, I bring Isringhausen in and he played pretty much how he does in real life! Gave up a single to their #2 hitter (blankin on who it was), then he steals 2nd, Berkman singles and moves him over to 3rd so runners on the corners no outs and Carlos Lee steps up, at this point Izzy is rattled big time so I get pitching to Lee and with a 1-1 count he sent one into Orbit, Stros went up 5-4. Lidge came in and shut the door to give them the win. Izzy has 5 saves in 8 chances!

                      Awesome game.

I am new to baseball games and the 360.... Having played a few games of the show 06 on ps2 now moving up 2k7. Anyways, I have been getting hammered every game (good learing experience, not complainign).

I'm using the white sox playing KC, up 4-5 and give up a 2 run homer (first time I experienced the composure feature, I didn't know what was happening) in the bottom of the 8th. Unable to score in the top of the 9th, game over.
Last night was game 2 of the series, and I pulled out a 2 - 1 win (my first win by the way)! YEah it was against a weak team, but I am 1 - 1 now! YAY!

Can anyone close a game with Todd Jones?
I have read on these boards a couple different places that guys where having trouble pitching with Todd Jones.
                          Anyway here is my story:
I am up 6-5 last night with the Tigers vs the Twins and I brought Jones in to start the 9th. First off let me say I use zone pitching which I love. Anyway Jones' pitch cursor is extra small and beating like a heart, it says he is feeling tense. I walk the first batter on 5 pitches, 3 of the balls I was trying to hit the corners and missed. Next batter first pitch I drill right in his butt!!! LOL
Now the twins have 1st and 2nd with none out. The next 3 guys all hit singles and suddenly I am down 8-6. I bring in a new pitcher and get 3 straight outs. Bottom of the ninth down 8-6 I hit a hr and get two guys on before stricking out and then hitting into a DP. GAME OVER I lose 8-7.

                          I hate Todd Jones!

WTG Huston Street. Blew another lead. 1 for his last 4 in saves.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one struggling in the 9th. I guess it's not helping that R. Martin calls a crappy game.

Re: Losing in the bottom of the 9th...

Playing as the Giants cruising to a 3-0 lead, bring in the ultimate closer. Armando Benitez (i know right). He gives up a single to chipper, double to andruw jones and a two run homer to brian mccan. Tie ball game

Top of the 10th get a pinch hit double in the 9 hole, two more singles leads to one run. Bonds comes up, int walk to load the bases, strike out, then a double play. So i'm up one bottom of the 10th steve kline is tense and once again brian mcaan with the two run homer to win it. The announcers were talking like it was going foul, so when it stayed fair my jaw dropped and so did the controller.
