cool, a console war, sony fan boys are funny. i like sony an all, and i dont have a ps 3 cuz they cost too much right now . but my one complaint is your comment on the blue ray being the best on the market. i remember ps2 could play dvd's, but sony recommend you dont play dvd's with your ps2 b/c it wears your lens quickly. !! that was a joke. i seriously hope ps3 isnt like that! advertise for a nice blue ray dvd player, but in fine print it reads "sony recommends not playing blue ray dvd on this machine". that would be great!
As it pertains to the comment about it being the best Blu-Ray player on the market, Im saying this based on the price point and the many comments Ive read from people who own the PS3 and a standalone player, as well as comments made by people in the industry, with anything electronic there will be problems but so far I havent had a single problem and if I do at any point I have the warranty through BB so Im covered. Like I said in my previous post, how many 360's had problems? Far more then the PS3, both systems are good, I just wanted the ability to play Blu-Ray at a reasonable price and I got it.Last edited by The Chef; 04-02-2007, 03:31 PM.Comment

Re: I watched the PS3 version of this game being played at Best Buy today...
I think one of the problems with the slowdown is that the game loads everything off of the disc. Because of the core 360, the developers can't design the game with a hard drive in mind. You would think that the PS3 version at the least would use hard drive caching, but apparently not. I don't see how Kush can't build in an option to cache the game data on the hard drive for the PS3 and 360's with the hard drive.Comment

Wow, sometimes I feel like I am playing a different game. For real guys I'm I missing something. Does this game have bad frame rate during gameplay, because I am not seeing that one bit.Comment

Re: I watched the PS3 version of this game being played at Best Buy today...
I'm not saying that the framerate isn't steady, I'm just saying that 30 frames per second must really shine on an HDTV. Actually, considering I pretty much haven't really ever played too many 360/PS3 games AT ALL, let alone on an HDTV, this is maybe one of two sports games that I have ever seen to play on an HDTV. Both games, Madden and 2K7, have looked like they are just missing a lot of frames. I'm just saying that 60 FPS astoundingly beats 30 FPS, and the difference is so marginal, it's major. At least, it is for me.
You know, I really love how "they" say that the human eye can't depict anything more than something running at 24 FPS... because whoever told you that just flat-out lied to you. I've been able to notice the difference between 60 FPS and 120 FPS. I don't know if you guys would, but I know that, unless you're really that damaged with your eyes, you would be able to see a major difference between 30 FPS and 60 FPS (and it may even make you wonder how you could even accept 30 FPS). Then again, that just may be me.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Same here, don't get it, but then again there are those people who swear there's no frame rate slowdown issues in The Show. Go figure.Comment

Have you played Madden? because if you have..there is no way that you would say 2k7 is the worst.People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.“I believe the game is designed to reward the ones who hit the hardest – If you can’t take it, you shouldn’t play!” Jack Lambert“Quarterbacks should wear dresses.” Jack LambertComment

Re: I watched the PS3 version of this game being played at Best Buy today...
So, I actually got a chance to play the PS3 version today.
Now I was actually closer to the T.V., and I just realized how apparent player jaggies are! And the framerate never got better closer up, either. As a matter of fact, I did a game at 1:00 PM at Busch Stadium in 110* weather and fully humid, and the pitching cursor was completely suffering from a low framerate. Don't know if it was just because of Busch Stadium, or if the other things applied as well.
Now, did anybody else ever have unresponsive swinging? The Swing Stick and Classic swinging had about a quarter-second delay, making playing at Pitch Speed 85+ pretty much impossible (that is if you want to determine which pitches are balls and which are strikes).
I must say, I'm much more underwhelmed as I actually PLAY the game rather than just watching it on IGN. Fielding camera was terrible, strike zone was even worse, and the whole framerate/jaggies thing as well. Oh, and one more thing:
I'm Dave Roberts, right? Shot in RCF at AT&T Park, and I get thrown out at second base. Speaking of which, baserunning has some weird individual controls as well. When I try and just send the lead runner, it assigns the former runner to the next base as well. Is it different from last year?
Anyway, I still can't wait to see what they do for 2K8, but I'm telling you that the jaggies and framerate things are issues that never existed during Blue Shift's time with the game on the Xbox. I don't know what it takes for that stuff to get working right, but when it does, I'll be salivating over this game and buy a current-gen console just for this game alone. Until then, this will just be a game that I will just "happen to get" when I eventually get a current-gen console.
I swear, I thought I was expecting something else with next-gen.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

exactly how I feel. I see lag during the 7th inning stretch scene but other than that, I have seen none..especially not during gameplay. I haven't seen ANYTHING as far as the actual gameplay goes that would make me say "this game is not worth buying and playing". Heck, even the lag when it shows a CUTSCENE OF FANS(read:something that has no effect on the actual game of baseball) isn't a big deal.Comment

Re: I watched the PS3 version of this game being played at Best Buy today...
Oh, I don't think that I ever said that this game was not worth buying. Remember, I was of the only people on this site that was still playing the crap 2K6 on Xbox. I would play anything that was better than that. But I'm saying that this game has been losing its value since my actual watching the game. I didn't realize that 30 FPS and jaggies on an HDTV with current-gen consoles was that damaging to me.
Oh, and guys... keep in mind that this game was side-by-side with an Xbox 360 display of Gears of War, which was running at a much more steady framerate and nearly full use of anti-aliasing. I think I just expected more. And again, I haven't seen the 360 version of 2K7, so I can't say whether things are better on there... also, remember that this is a PS3 on display, so I can't confirm whether it was running a full... err... Oh, by the way, I approve of the sky progression for night games. There are many things that could be adjusted (sky color, getting rid of stars, and perhaps advancing to black a wee-bit quicker), and then there are just funny hitches with when the lighting is shining on the players... it's not a smooth transition. BUT, I am finally content with a game having it, and having it most properly. I hope that they continue working on it, because it's an awesome feature.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Sliders, they work. The running scheme is great. I'm a usual auto run kind of guy, this one works great.
I'm really scratching my head over this jaggies and framerate thing. You mentioned how bad it is twice. I must be blind.Comment

Jim, are you on PS3 or 360? I'd really like to see if this was just a simple PS3 stripped apart to basic form where it wasn't running on all SPU's or something, because I am just a stickler for this framerate stuff (and jaggy stuff). I mean, if you look at my posts in the wishlist threads the last two years, my first post was always:
- 60 frames per second
- Anti-aliasing
I'm sure I did it more than once as well. I think I just expect to much out of this next-generation of gaming, where I think they can push those very limits that they were able to 5 years ago but with better visuals.
Again... if this game were to run with no jaggies and in a steady 60 frames per second, you guys would no longer be wondering what I was looking at. Whenever I hit a foul ball past the view of the stadium, it ran just fine at 60 FPS. Then when it came back down, it was choppy as ****.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: I watched the PS3 version of this game being played at Best Buy today...
My friend has the PS3 version, me the 360, but I think you look at things with much too critical an eye. I guess if I got right up on top of the screen and squinted I could pick up some of the stuff you see, but you are way to critical of everything.
The swing delay was in last years game on classic swing, but wasn't with classic swing and zoom. The delay can be fixed by slowing down the pitch speed.
The one thing about this game is the sliders work and the game can be customized to each players ability (for the most part). And there are a ton of sliders.
For most gamers this is one immersive game. And even though I switched back to The Show (holding my nose/talk about visible framerate issues) I only did it because of full roster control. I loved the gameplay in this game.Comment
