    360 not working...4 red lights

so...i've owned my 360 since november and it's been working fine. ever 4 or 5 times i turn it on, it doesnt turn on right and i just have to restart it and then it works fine. till now. i play it once or twice a day...and 2 days ago i buy Dance Dance revolution for my wife. the first time we play it, it works fine. but today when she goes to play it, it freezes up on her. i turn it off...let it sit and turn it back on and it freezes on the opening "xbox" screen. we turn it off till this evening and it starts normal again...then freezes...then i turn it off...then i turn it back on and i just get all 4 red lights...that's it. i guess i have to take it back...i still have my eb games warranty. it's just a bummer.

Call Microsoft immediately and send it over. THey will repair it for free with free shipping and handling. It will take around 2 weeks and probably will send you a new unit.

Are you sure that they are new? I thought the recent gripe with the support at Microsoft is that they send you repaired refurbished units...not new units.

I hope it is new. My 360 is being worked on right now!

                No problem

Hopefully most will never have to use it.

I had mine replaced with what I believe was a refurb (It was older than the one I sent anyway) and I haven't had a problem with it in the year that I had it.

update...it was the 3 rings of death and not 4 like i thought. they were just so bright, it looked like all 4. nothing is getting to work. luckily, i wont have to go 2 weeks and worry about sending it in...i still have my eb games warranty. is it worth another 20 some dollars to get another year long warranty? now i'm worried that it's going to happen no matter what.

I got my 360 on launch day and it just died on March 28th, it's in for repair now.
I would spend the $20 for the warranty. I paid $50 for MS's two year warranty. It has already paid for itself.

I bought mine in August and recently sent it in for service. I did not have a
warranty. I paid for the shipping to Texas but the repair and the shipping back to me was free. I got it back in about 10 days, which just happened to coinside with a business trip. It was there when I got home and I've had no issues since.
