You know you're going to lose when...

You simply can't see the ball!

I'm not kidding. There are games where you simply can't see where the ball is. The reflection of the lights on the infield makes the ball unseeable. I've blown 2 - 9 run leads because of this. Simple ground balls are not picked up thus the slightest flick of the L stick is miscalculated for a single. Barely can judge grounders in the OF as well.

I'm beginning to think this is done on purpose to allow the CPU some come from behind victories. It coincidentally happens in games that I take huge leads and then blow them. Mind you, the CPU doesn't earn the win, I simply can't see the ball!

Am I going blind or does anyone else have games like this.

I just had my first one last night. It was against the O's in Baltimore. I had a really hard time picking the ball up all game and overran 2 or 3 easy grounders. BTW, I only play on Xbox Live so these games were against other people.

Jim416 has been commenting on the difficulty of picking up the baseball since day one. First time I've heard about some conspiracy theory to allow the CPU to come from behind, though

Yep, the day games in some of the stadiums are absolute killers. I have a big 58" HDTV, so it's not the screen size, but it's just absolutely worthless for me to try to play these games.

AND, as much as they improved this game, which was A TON, wasn't there a dev sitting there playing it and saying to the rest of the devs, "hmmm, man it's hard to see that light blue circle during day games. Let's take a minute and change the color". I can't believe this wouldn't have had a very simple programming solution.

Luckily, it doesn't happen every game and it doesn't appear to affect my hitting. This was a night game. But the infield looked like a day game with sun in your eyes. Perhaps it poor programming with lighting. I'm simply going to sim these games and not waste my time.

Re: You know you're going to lose when...

I know what you guys are talking about but I haven't had much problems with it.

BUT...I cannot stand the 7pm games. The first 3 or so innings, the game is so dark I am lucky to touc hthe ball while hitting and if I do it certainly isn't because I read the pitch correctly, I just get lucky. Is there a setting I need to adjust? I have the inning and player highlights turned OFF but I don't know if there is something else I need to do to make these evening games somewhat enjoyable.

Anyone else having this issue? Right now I am playing as the Reds in Arizona and it is like playing a night game with the lights OFF for these first few innings.

EDIT: It's one thing to show time progression in the sky but to have the game appear to have the lights turned off is not even close to how baseball is played. It's isn't like in a night game, in real life, that they wait until it seems to dark for people to see before they turn the lights on. No, they turn them on "knowing" it will be dark soon so the game ALWAYS has sufficient light for everyone to play.

I take that back, it took 6 innings to get to wear I could see everything normally. I really hope that someone tells me to do something that will make this much better. Otherwise I will have to simulate or manage these games and that is a lot of games, especially when I prefer to play every game.

I'm Toronto in one of my online leagues... anyone else find it hard to track the ball out of the pitchers hand in the skydome...? that white strip behind the pitches makes it tough to see the ball it really sucks

Dude, nine run leads? Someone needs to adjust the sliders! Unless you were the Yankees playing the Royals both times, something seems out of whack!

Seriously, its not sliders. As the game progressed, the ball just gets lost in the lighting or reflection both on the ground and in the air. What should have been 12 errors on my part (they were all scored as hits) will blow any lead. Ironically, this occured in Camden Yards as another poster mentioned this also. It happens every 10 games or so. Besides, I'm 18-5 and needed a good whoopin'.

I really haven't noticed an issue with this, but would it help if you turned the brightness and/or maybe the contrast down on your tv?
