    Swing Stick Question

When using the swing stick is hitting timing based only or do you need to use the batter's eye and point the left stick to the area of the pitch?

I've been using Classic and I'm thinking about switching.

Both classic and swing stick are timing based only. Point the R stick (when using swing stick) to influence hit-type - up for flyball, down for groundball, left for left field, etc.

Thanks Baa. No wonder I think the ball physics are whack. What's that Batters Eye for then?

Pre-determining pitch location for a system to potentially be given an advantage (and no disadvantage) where a red outlined ball location is given for you during the windup or leg kick and your player instantly receives jacked power ratings for the pitch.

Whenever I play (2K6 or 2K7), I have it off. Problem is, it's not really off... it's just invisible. So when there's a pitch right down the middle, since that's where it centers, I'd know about it.

That no doubt explains why some people are hitting so many HR's - they don't move the hitter's eye, and then whack pitches that are down the middle.

So it's really a 'guess pitch' feature, but without having to place your bat (which you can't do in this game) in the actual pitch location - I get it...

So last night I tried the using the swing stick. Is it safe to say that on the pitches that I swung and missed at that I just mistimed the swing or because the batters eye was nowhere near the location of the pitch? Would it be the same if i used classic?

As far as I know, yes. From trying both, and from reading the in-game instructions, there's no difference between the two other than which stick you use, along with how you move the stick when swinging.

As for the hitter's eye: it improves your chances at hitting the ball. But you can still hit the ball well if you time your swing properly, regardless of where you've set your hitter's eye.

                  Re: Swing Stick Question

Batter's eye has nothing to do with contacting the ball. As mentioned early, it is only there to guess the location and give a hint if guessed correctly. Guessing correctly or incorrectly does nothing to help you in making contact, that is all about timing.

The biggest advantage of the batter's eye is telling you whether it will be a ball or a strike.

Oh okay, I wondered about that. Thought it gave you a 'contact boost' if you guessed correctly.

Hmm... so is Blzer right or wrong? That's where I was getting my info, seeing I never use the d*mn thing and just wish it would go away actually.

I said power ratings, and I never said contact ratings.

According to 2K6, this is exactly the case (with a very large sample size). According to 2K7, though it was a small sample size, this was still the case.
