Everytime I throw my slider it gets drilled. It used to be just when I did not time it right I would give up a HR. But now whenever I throw a slider it is hit for a double if not more. Anyone else having this problem?

P.S. I follow what my catcher calls.

Stop listening to your catcher

Sounds like the other teams have slider bat speed. In other words, they're late on the fastball, ahead of the curveball and right on time for the slider.

I haven't noticed anything different when i throw that pitch compared to another, but maybe make it a point to keep that pitch out of the zone in hopes that they'll chase.

Without seeing it in action, I don't know if your hanging the pitch or throwing it up in the zone or what, but sliders are most effective when thrown down and away to hitters (righty vs. right, lefty vs. lefty) and can be effective when thrown to the back door (righty throwing outside to a lefty), but it has to just catch the corner. Other than that, I don't know what to tell you except to quit listening to the catcher. A lot of times, they call stupid pitches that make no sense at all.

They might have your pitcher scouted to the tee, sometimes if you decide to throw to that spot that the catcher wants....Throw to a different spot..Or outside the zone......The player is guessing to what your tendencies are..Change it up...ALL Catchers do not call a good game....YOU have to go with your pitchers strength...If the batter is wek against sliders, but your pitchers slider sucks, throw a change up or Fastball..Because they will be looking for the slider.....

Are you talking about online or vs the cpu?

Online I give up HR's on about 95% of the sliders that I throw for strikes.

Since hitting is timing based, the slider is kind of useless vs a human opponent.

Oh yes your right the slider gets smashed , but only if u lay it on the strike zone. A slider must be thrown as a teaser pitch. Leaving a slider in the strike zone gets smashed whether your playing MLB 2k7 or in real baseball.

Not true at all. I watched an MLB game last night where the P was throwing slider after slider for strikes, in fact. It's all about mixing up pitches, speeds and location, and not about specific pitches that are or aren't thrown for strikes.

Thanks for the tips fellas but the computer catcher keeps calling the slider down the middle but low still in the strike zone. I started throwing the pitch out of the zone so it doesn't get hit so hard. The reason I follow the catcher is because I can K the computer 12 times easy, but if I let the computer call the pitch I dont strike the batters out nearly as much.
