Classic swing system animation needs a lot of work...

It's pretty ridiculous how quick the swing animation is in this game. Timing wise, it's almost impossible to get things consistently down and there's an awful lot of chance that goes into getting ahold of a pitch (even batter's eye and bad CPU pitches).

Literally .001 of a second makes all the difference as to whether or not you will make contact with a pitch. While that's obviously true in real life, the swinging animation in the game affords little in the way of consistency because it's so short.

Further frustrating the process is that they didn't include a simple batting practice option to where one can hone in their skills. I suppose playing exhibitions and switching to the team at bat is the best way. Next year they need to include a BP mode where it's a selected pitcher & batter, a cage, a screen, and in the ballpark of your choice where you can work on timing.

I think this is my biggest complaint as well. Is how short the swing animation is. Because its so short it leads to a lot of problems. One of the biggest problems is that its very hard to check swing.

I was really disappointed that there was no batting practice mode this year. Totally agree with you that there needs to be some kind of batting practice mode.

make sure you have the pitcher difficulty setting no higher than 50. otherwise the game cheats, it makes you swing through the pitch to make you miss, although you clearly hit the ball on the button. (instant replay zoom )

True, but with a timing only system, they almost have to do this otherwise your misses could only come from timing, instead of real life where you can swing over, under, or away from a pitch. With a timing only system, you lose the swinging over/under.

That is one of the thing's that really hinders the batting interface this year. The fact that it is a mainly timing interface. Hopefully next year's game will be pure zone hitting, similar to High Heat's interface.

Couldn't agree more bring back the zone hitting of 04 and 05

I wish they would implement MVP 05's check swing system. It wasn't realistic, but that's how I drew a lot of walks. I would start my swing on almost every pitch, but on pitches that started to run out of the zone, I could still easily check swing. This gave me realistic pitch counts and realistic walks.

In MLB 07, I have checked my swing maybe three times in all of the games i've played, and they are ALL called strikes. Not to mention the whole lag in the button to swing animation, and the quickness of the swing.

I don't want it to seem like i'm bashing the game. I love the game, but the batting interface does have some serious issues. If these are fixed, the game is damn near perfect for me.

Honestly, the batting interface of High Heat and the pitching interface of MLB07 would be the PERFECT baseball game for me. High Heat was far ahead of it's time in the batter and pitcher matchups.
