    HELP

I just picked this game up a few days ago along with my 360

I'm playing with heelfan's classic batting sliders and cant hit a homerun to save my life. Do you have to use the batter's eye to hit them? or is it just good timing and i have to be patient?

otherwise im really anjoying this game. I'm blown away by the player customization and all the accesories.

    Re: HELP

You're not the only one having trouble with hitting with the classic swing. As has been discussed, it's difficult to consistently get a hold of pitches because the swing animation is so short.

I am considering a switch to the swing stick using The Professional's slider set, but am concerned about the apparent lack of hit variety in that mode.

Push up on the swing stick. Presto: instant homers.

Only if you abuse the swing stick. Otherwise, the hit variety is similar.

What do you mean by abuse? You mean pushing up on it? How does it work exactly, I mean I know its pull back to start the step and release to swing, but what about pulling balls, going with the pitch, etc.?

            Two quick things:

Remember that when you want to influence a fly ball to induce a homerun, you need to push up on the left stick AFTER the pitcher has started his windup. Pushing up prior to the windup moves your batter's eye instead of your influence. That can cause you to miss a pitch that is anywhere out of your batter's eye.

Secondly, I only try to induce a fly ball (homerun) under the following situations:
Either my batter has moderate to high contact and/or power
And my batter has been tipped off to a meatball pitch or the pitch is in the batter's eye and, therefore, I know where the pitch is going to land. Once that happens, your batter is locked on and the chances of trotting around the bases are high. Again, remember to push up on the left stick after the wind up, else, you move the batter's eye and you miss.

Yup. Plus, many if not most MLB hitters cannot pick and choose to direct their hits the way you can in 2K7. So IMO, if you're constantly using the stick to go opposite field etc, that's abusing it.

There's talk that going with the pitch improves the chances of hits, etc. Whatever, it certainly makes hitting more interesting than just relying on timing-only all the time.

im getting a decent amount of hits, i had 11 and 8 my last two games im just not getting good run production. ive ony gotten 4 runs. I'll try what you said and see what happens. I'm probably just not taking enough time to get used to the game. Ive never played a 2K baseball game before. Ive always played MVP or the show.

Its really all about timing. As someone mentioned before the swing animation window is very short. So the window to time it absolutely perfect is very small as well. Once you get your timing down you'll find its actually quite easy to hit homeruns.
