    Salvage

Every so often i get tired of this game and want to just say screw it and pony up for the PS3, warranty, controllers and Show. But seeing i dont have 800 laying around to buy that before i buy my HD tv, i just sulk and watch real baseball to kill the urge. But then something happens , i play a game of 2k7 and it plays good, the cpu puts up a fight, the graphics still wow me, i just fall back in love like the first day again. It has its flaws but all in all it is a good game and for that moment in time im happy. I know the Show is awesome (trust me i loved The Show 06 like a relative), but i still have a thing for 2k7 and im happy that it plays well enough to get me by.

Have you tried sliders? It was like night and day with my game, and I was at the stage you where. Still wouldn't mind acquiring a PS3 and The Show

I have tried on many occasions in the last month. I realize now, 107 games into my season, I will not play another game. I have tried different sliders, but nothing makes me feel like I control the batting. I played 2 innings of a game today to no avail. Im probably going to trade it in for ps2 MLB 07.

        Re: Salvage

I still play this game every day, and I suspect I will until the football games come out.

Call me a graphics whore, but I just can't get over the combination of player models (I've got all my stances and pitcher deliveries nailed), the dynamic lighting, the cloth physics, and the atmosphere.

I also don't think the gameplay is nearly as bad as people have made it out to be. I bought The Show on release day and I played about five games. I'm sorry, it's nothing special, especially when you're forced into taking a step back in all five of the areas I just mentioned. (Gameplay is most important, but it's still only one aspect of a game out of many.)

The things I'm still frustrated with (the ERA bug, pitching being a bit too easy, etc.) are pretty small considering the entire package.

Next year's version should be the absolute bomb.

I feel ya. I was wicked bummed out when I got this game and it wasn't all I had read it should've been. I tried everybody's sliders and everybody's suggestions and finally I said f*ck it. I play with my own preferences and I adjust sliders as I feel necessary and you know what ... I love this game. It sucks that it doesn't play the way it should right out of the box ... and it should ... but it works for me and until the football games come out ... MLB2K7, ESPNHD and my MLB.TV package easily satiate my baseball needs.

            Re: Salvage

Agreed, I enjoy 2K a lot and its on the road to being a great game. Whomever says 2K is an arcade game simply havent tried adjusting sliders. The only real gameplay flaw is the amount of homers you hit but if you knock the batting contact, batting power and power swing slider down to 0 it will be under control. I am playing a season and getting competitive games. High scoring and low scoring.

What aggravates me more than any gameplay flaw are the glitches in the game, such as the freezing, base runners stopping inbetween the bases, ground rule doubles that dont count as hits etc. But next year that will all be cleaned up.

2K is good enough to get by with this year.

I was fortunate enough to get a real good hookup on a PS3(Which was the only way I was going to get one) and I got the Show. IMO the Show is a great game. Very alive very authentic, and the best part is that u dont have to babysit how u hit the ball. Now dont get me wrong MLB 2k7 is a good game also and only a few tweaks away from being a great baseball game.

All MLB 2k7 has to do is get the Hitting much more authentic, everything else is fine. Get the frame rate at a constant 60fps. Fix all the statistical glitches that trouble others, and MLB 2k7 can be one of the best baseball games ever made.

Graphically both games look great, but in Player models and specific players behavior, MLB 2k7 Kills the show. MLB 2k7 has done a great job in this dept by far, and being that they have the graphics nailed down and player models and behavior. I can only see 2k sports working hard only on getting the AI and statistics right. They dont need to even worry about graphics.

MLB the show just has to get the player Models upto par with 2k7 and the game will be unreal. MLB the show has so much personality in the game it is scary. Its like your controlling real life players on the field. They do so much with behavior that it is awesome, and the game plays so authentic for every aspect.

Next year everyone should be completely straight with what ever baseball game that comes out, but for now if u only have 2k7 its damn good enough to still play till next year. I know the hitting side is the biggest gripe, but there are some great hitting sliders out there for both swing stick and classic mode that make the game play great. Just test some out.
