    Ever 'Lost' a Star Player?

What I mean is, have you ever performed so poorly with a star player that you had to virtually stop playing him or send him down altogether?

Right now I'm facing this dilemma with two players: Polanco and Pudge. Not so much Pudge, actually, because he's been pretty hot the past couple games, upping his average to around .235, but Polanco ... man, dude's hitting like .128 or something.

Coincidentally, my season is 'right now' (i.e. it's June 12th), so I'm roughly 70 games in. This is no 'slump'. I have to seriously consider going with Neffi Perez or Omar Infante as my everyday second baseman!

Polanco contact ratings are too good to give up on him. What seems to be the problem?

Had the same issue freakily with both players! (see my trade thoughts thread)

Pudge is now slowly coming round, finally batting above .200 and knocking some runs in after sitting at .150 for ages, Polanco was just not contributing, so i shifted him out to Baltimore.

Well, part of the problem, I'm sure, is mental on my part. I'm constantly aware of this fact he's not hitting every time he's at the plate, so ... I guess you could say, I'm slumping with him.

Another thing I think is contributing to the issue is that there aren't enough bloop singles in the game to keep him going the way he would IRL: he's popping out on balls that should (would) probably drop. I actually dropped his power ratings to zero and maxed out his contact ratings to see if that would help, but no real change. He's still cooking along at a cool .118. lol

Psychobulk: Yeah, I read your thread, and it made me consider trading him. But that's what I had in mind when I named the thread the way I did: I don't want to lose one of my bigger stars! I wanna play with the Tigers, not play GM, ya know? If I trade away a central piece like Polanco, I might as well go all the way and trade Grilli, Jones, Shelton, Maroth ... all the players I don't particularly care for. I don't want it to come to that.

Not a great player, but I have all sorts of trouble with Josh Barfield...just horrible...dude is batting like .105 after 35 games...I want to see him come around, but I might just have to look into another option, because he is killing me in the 9 spot of my order....I just can't get anything going on the turn back to the top of the order.

David Eckstein and Scott Rolen for me.

Rolen was hitting like .220 for me forever, I finally seem to have turned the corner with him though and I'm at .272 with him.

Eckstein I gave him his shot for about 75 games then I had to ship him out, he was hitting .175 with 4 RBI, thats not gonna cut it from the leadoff spot (although I eventually moved him to the 8 slot and put Kennedy leadoff). Shipped him to Colorado who is actually in contention for the West in my game for Troy Tulowitzki who was in AAA for them.

Orlando Cabrera. OC is hitting .134 with 1 HR and 3 RBI in 30 games. So ive played Erick Aybar in his place and did quite well. I may trade OC in the off season.
