    Re: Why.

It's not 90% unless he's a lousy play caller. I know V-tek mixes it up when I use him. Most major league pitchers throw their fastball about 60% of the time. There are of course a number very obvious exceptions like Mussina or Zito or Matsuzaka. I generally throw what the catcher is asking for in this game most of the time and call my own payoff locations or change the call when he's being a huge moron. The really low skill game-calling catchers make some really dumb calls FWIW. I don't think they're ever really be able to get it 100% accurate anyway but I agree it could be better since I do get the feeling there is no rhyme or reason to what they're calling sometimes. Maybe it might be better if you had inside edge for every player by default but spending money would make their inside edge report card much more accurate. Then at least we would have a better idea of if the catcher's just winging it half the time.

Yeah, the "Call Game" attribute plays a big role.

For example, when Wil Neives was on the Yanks and I'd sub him in during my franchise he'd call for a ton of fastballs that were belt high on the corners. Really doesn't make a difference if it's on the corner when it's belt high - the CPU will crush it.

Also, when he caught Pettitte he'd call for an inside cutter to RH batters almost every pitch.

The catchers should be inexperienced, not stupid. Not being aware of the player's tendencies is really the only thing that they should be doing wrong, but they shouldn't be calling high splitters and the same pitch all of the time. Likewise, as the pitcher, you're allowed to shake them off.

Then don't throw a fastball every pitch...

just because the catch tells you to throw it, doesn't mean you have to. It's a video game, you can go against what the catcher calls for. And if it's annoying you that much, just turn it off and pitch how you think Glavine should pitch...

I find that the catcher call a pretty decent game. There's a few times a game where I have to "shake them off" and throw a different pitch, but I have had luck with good catchers like Jason Kendall.

i find the catchers tend to call for balls a little to often, other than that i like the feature.
