Into the Wayback Machine: 2K5 (Xbox) Problem

Hi, everyone. Started playing 2K5 on the Xbox again this past weekend. Still like the game alot. However, it has been extremely glitchy/lagging. Something it has NEVER done before, and I played it regularly for 6 months last year.
What's happening is if I'm flipping through screens (in franchise mode), the music that plays in the background will stop for a good 5-10 seconds (but I'm still able to switch screens). Or, during game play, if a runner is thrown out at first for example, it'll freeze for 10-20 seconds, or the first baseman will walk all the way to the wall in the outfield (and try to walk through it). After about a minute, the next batter will finally step up to the plate. The funniest thing I saw was that it did that on the 3rd out, all the guys went back to the dugout and just stood there looking in the dugout.

Anyway, that's what's happening. Prior to the weird stuff going on, I went into the Xbox and deleted every saved game on there just so I could start a 2K5 season from scratch. Also, the disc is scratchless. Looks like it's brand new.

Any ideas on how to fix those problems? Like I said, it never did that all last year I played it. Thanks for reading this.

Based on the description of your experience in the menus, it sounds like it's having trouble reading from the disc. The menus are all loaded into system memory at boot up, but the menu music is streamed from the disc.

Does the game take a seemingly longer time to boot up initially or get into the actual game from the menus?

If so, this would support the theory that it's having trouble reading from the disc.

Thank you for the feedback. No, the game seems to start up in a normal amount of time, but I will thoroughly clean the disc tonight or tomorrow and see if that helps. I appreciate the response!

Are you using custom menu music from your hard drive?
