Serious question: How do YOU get through a season?

Everytime I start a franchise, I get about a week in and find myself bored.

I HATE MLB'S schedule...the season series' with all the teams, 3 games against this team, 4 against this team, and so on.

It's way boring on the game...plus I get bored of playing with and against the same players OVER and OVER again.

How do YOU guys, play through a season on MLB 2k7...play one simulate one...play a month simulate a month...or what...how do you do it?

Some people will play just one game per series. But personally, I've played almost every single game of the season and I'm into early September.

    Are you a baseball fan?

And do you really believe Madden is King?

With baseball games lately, all I do is play "made up" post seasons or just 7-game series between two teams.

This way I get to use every team in the game, never get bored and have constant drama for the most part.

Play each and every one of the 162 games. I love the way series work, battles between players and teams, getting hammered in one game but coming back to win the next.

        I love it.

        Simple.

I dont have the time for 162 game season anymore. I played a 40 game season and after getting through that I started season #2. Kinda wish I would of done a 80 game season.

Yes, I am a baseball fan, I consider myself a Red Sox fan since 2002 when my friend got me into baseball.

And no, I do not believe Madden is King, I believe I am the King at playing Madden. lol

How long does it normally take the average person to play a 162 game season? lol

I can normally only get about 4 games in a day during the week if I play as soon as I come home from school...that would take way to long.

Thats why the only sports game I ever play full seasons on is Madden...16 games plus playoffs takes me about 3-4 days...lol

It seems like playing an entire baseball season takes just as long as it does in real like...lol a whole year...

I play the entire season, all 162 games. I play about 6-8 games a week depending on my schedule. I'm way behind the real MLB schedule, but it's ok.

Same here but MLB 2K8 wont be out till March next year so no rush.

Take it easy, relax, enjoy each game, no need to rush

Oh no way, I think that's cool. They're all like little playoff series'. The goal, obviously, is to win the series, so if you lose an opener, for example, you're essentially faced with back-to-back 'must win' games. Against lesser opponents, your goal is to sweep the series, so even if you win two of three, you didn't do what you needed to do - there's room for improvement, etc.

... I get bored of playing with and against the same players OVER and OVER again.
Well it is an awfully long season, I'll give you that. But baseball is so statistically-driven, it's never really the same game twice. I never get tired of trying to hit that next HR with Sheffield, keep Polanco's average over .350, get Verlander his next W, or keep Zumaya's SO total higher than his IP total.

Your attitude seems to suggest that maybe you're winning too much? So maybe there's not any sense of urgency when you play? The Tigers, for example, are one of the five or six best teams on the game, and I was only 54-44 at last check, again placing significance on every game: I truly want that to be 74-44. Literally I could go on a 20-game winning streak and it'd be legit in my eyes, so I truly want to win each of the next 20, emphasizing my earlier point about winning and sweeping series'.

                        Hehe.

I'm the opposite, I am very excited to get to the nitty gritty of the season. My Pirates are 2 games back in the central and will be fighting for a playoff spot until the end, which I love.

As a matter of fact, you hit that dead on the money

I was winning every game played on All Star no matter what team I used, so I turned on dynamic difficulty on along with all star, and still couldnt lose, then I turned on legend difficulty with dynamic difficulty on and still wouldnt lose.

Then I turned off dynamic difficulty and kept it on legend and now I'm enjoying a season with the Atlanta Braves, I'm something like 8-2 with a lose to the Mets and a lose to the Nationals (an obvious heart breaker). lol

So I'm enjoying the game alot more now, thanks for the advice.

I also enjoyed your point regarding the season series'.

Makes sense and I have a better outlook on it now. Time to have some fun! lol

One of the things I really like about the 2K series is the option for shorter seasons. I don't like simming games, and playing 162 games is tough from a time perspective. Not to mention I would prefer playing with different teams every now and then. Additionally, my skill is really different by the time I reach game #162.

Infact this is what killed MVP '05 for me. I wanted to play with some minor league teams as well as MLB, but there were no short seasons. (I am in a similiar dilemma now with NHL08.)

I really like the 40 game schedule. But a few times I have done 10 games with a full post season slate....that was suprisingly fun. I played each division rival home and away and a few non division contests....more of a tournament really. If you have time constraints, I highly recommend it.

I love baseball. I love it so much that I can EASILY get through the 162 game schedule one by one and play another season, except that by the time I finish the entire season, next year's game is coming out.
