Re: Serious question: How do YOU get through a season?

Every year, I always say i'm going to play a full 162 game schedule with the Red Sox. But, I get so nitpicky with certain players, that I usually go with a fantasy draft, which I get bored of 10 games in.

My problem is, for example, this year there weren't really any windups that looked like Dice K. I used Wang's for a while, but I don't know why, I just didn't enjoy using Dice K. Some guys on the Sox, like Youk, have no stances in the game close to theirs in real life, so I get upset with that.

I know it's just a game, but little things like that irk me for no reason. Hopefully this year, more players have signature style so I can really get into it.

Not to mention, I usually can never find the right sliders. I either lose nearly every game, or blow everyone out. Gets frustrating trying to find the right sliders.

dude for Youk there is a stance for him. Its Victor Martinez...look at it when you play with him. He keeps the bat up high...his butt out..chin to his shoulder and swings with both hands on the bat. Thats close enough. With Dice-K? yeh...whatever.

Re: Serious question: How do YOU get through a season?

What I do is play 1 game out of every series and sim the other games in the series. Then play all of the playoff games.

Using this method I've played about 5 full seasons. I have a lot of fun doing it that way and I find it keeps the stats pretty realistic. As you don't have influence on them in an every game situation.

I love the game still. I've played it almost every single day since February. Great stuff, totally underrated. (with sliders)

Re: Serious question: How do YOU get through a season?

I usually play one full series (3 or 4 games against one opponent) then sim one full series.

I end up playing about half the season, and feel like I've made a pretty significant impact on my team's performance.

The rules can be bent also. ie: near the end of the season, I'd purposely play all of Halladay's starts so i could get him closer to 20 wins, so I'd sim a game with a different starter that I'd usually have played.

It keeps things pretty fresh, and you get to see a lot of different teams, without feeling like you've been playing your own division 100 times.

It's way boring on the game...plus I get bored of playing with and against the same players OVER and OVER again.

How do YOU guys, play through a season on MLB 2k7...play one simulate one...play a month simulate a month...or what...how do you do it?
Play the 1st two months against teams at or above .500. Then sim to September. Play every game that whole month. Then the postseason if applicable.

Re: Serious question: How do YOU get through a season?

I like to play about one game for each week of the season and select which one pretty much randomly. I used to do one of each series but I just don't have the time to do that anymore. I like the franchise aspect so getting through a season in a decent timeframe is important because I like to build up my team and otherwise I'd play a season and it'd be time for next year's game. This is why I think sports games, and baseball especially, should have dynasties/franchises carry over into the next year's game. If they did it that way, I'd probably play more games per season.

Although I do like JBH's idea...maybe I'll give that a whirl. JBH--do you do any "front office" stuff while simming through to September? I figure that wouldn't be too many more games than I play now anyway...I like it...

Wow guys, you have some good ideas for simming strategies etc... I elected for a shorter season which I really like. Only a couple drawbacks 1 being the stats are 1/4 what a full season would be... 2nd is the pithers have plenty time of time to rest and never really get fatigued.

Yep, this is my case too.
                            1. Stats - While they only 1/4 of what they should be, at least you know they are YOUR stats.
                            2. Pitcher Fatigue - This is something I wish they would fix....games should still be scheduled on consecutive days. But I am reluctant to complain since many sports games don't even offer the shorter seasons these days. I just play with an honor system and don't use the pitchers who would otherwise be fatigued.

I play several 162 game seasons per release. I played seven-plus full 162 game seasons of MVP 2005, 3 seasons of MLB 2k6 and am in my 3rd season of MLB 2k7. I recently purchased an x360 (lol took me long enough) and am anxiously awaiting 2k8. I wish that there were more choices with baseball titles for the xbox 360. I love how MS bought out the rights to High Heat but then never did anything with it

I try to play all 162 aiming for certain stats or whatever. Once rosters are updated through great folks like those on OS, and you get top players in the minors I tend to get excited and call them up and try them out for a while. Actually called up Matt Harrison (traded to the Rangers for Texiera) and made him my closer. Ended up getting 20 saves for him after the all-star break!
