How about some mini games/drills for Spring Training?

I'm thinking about this more for MLB 2K9 as I think there is more than enough that needs to be done for 2K8, but what about the inclusion of some mini-games for Spring Training that can be used to increase attributes of your players?

I'm really thinking of something similar to what Madden (I don't know if they still do this as I haven't played it in a few years) has done in the past as far as quick little games that are ability specific that can be done during the offseason to help make your players better. Instead of having the computer randomly assign + and -'s, you would have the ability to control certain aspects of your players off season training.

Obviously if you prefer not to play these games, you'd have the option to either let the computer randomly assign players to certain drills and then assign point gains or you could assign the players to the specific drills and only let the computer assign the point gains.

Maybe like Madden, you can either assign one player to each category or maybe you can assign any player to any category (so that you could have multiple players in one category and no players in another) or even assign multiple drills to each player.

    Pitching:
    Increase Control of pitches
    Increase Velocity of pitches
    Increase Pitch Effectivness of pitches
    Increase Pick off
    Increase Stamina
    Add Pitch

    Hitting/Running:
    Increased Contact
    Increased Power
    Increased Bunting Ability
Increase Strike Zone Awareness (would benefit Batter Eye)
    Increase Running Speed
    Increase Running Jumps/Reads

    Fielding:
    Increase Throwing Strength
    Increase Throwing Accuracy
    Increase Fielding Range
    Increase Ability to Catch
For Catchers (Work on Blocking ball in dirt)
For Catchers (Work on Throwing Runners Out)

I've got some ideas for most of these that I'll post, but feel free to add idea's.

My thought is that each game would have a "practice" feel to it. If your pitching, your throwing in a bullpen, if your hitting, your in a batting cage, etc. The players would be in shorts and a t-shirt, or some other gear that isn't very game-like.

    Pitching Velocity: Long Toss

Premise: Your selected pitcher and a teammate go to the outfield and play long toss where your pitcher stays put on the foul line and the teammate moves farther and farther back. The farther you throw the ball after 25 throws, the better the increase you can receive in velocity.
    <O</O
How it works: There is a meter directly to the right of your pitcher. You press and hold the throw button to increase the meter. As the distance gets bigger, there is a marker (a small range within the meter) that goes higher and higher up the meter. Your first step is to get the strength of your throw within the specified range. This part of the meter will move relatively slow at first and speed up slightly as the distance increases. You press the button to start the meter and then press it again when it is in the first range (basically the strength of your throw). (At this point, the pitcher would go into a crow hop animation). After you press the button, the marker will continue to go up and once it gets to the top, it will begin to come down, where there is now another range that you have to get the marker inside to complete the throw (the angle/arc of your throw). If you are successful in both markers, you will make an accurate throw and the other player will move back. If you miss the throw, he will move in (if at the beginning spot, he will stay put). As the throws get farther, the meter will move faster and the range for the throws angle will get shorter and shorter. As you near max distance, your timing will basically have to be perfect.
    <O</O
You would start at 50’ apart and each successful throw would move your teammate back another 10’. Your final throw (if you were perfect) would be from 300’ and if successful would result in the max increase in velocity.

I would love to see minigames ie MVP 05. And make them playable online ie Madden 08 with the online leaderboard.

I am not interested in the minigame/spring training drills that you are talking about though Trev. Just not something I would want to do in my franchise.
