      Re: 2K8 Brinkman Interview

I thought I was excited about those early pics of The Show (well I still am), but this just stole the show in a way. I really appreciate Take-Two spending alot of time & focusing on the PS3 this much. Kushgamer wasn't lying, they are truly going head to head with Sony this time, which is a good thing for all us baseball fans. I would say they've made it up to the PS3 owners big time. This game sounds like its going to be incredible this year.

On top of all the new stuff they finally managed to get the self-shadowing among many other things in the PS3 game. I especially like the part where Brinkman says they've blown it out with the signature style in 2K8! The signature stuff is what impressed me the most last yr & it sounds like they've added to it immensly.

Man I can't wait to see this game in action! But they're really teasing us with those old pics.

        Re: 2K8 Brinkman Interview

I think this game will be very good- Brinkman clearly wasn't happy with a good chunk of the code he had to utilize in 2K7, a necessity given the short development cycle. He inherited some bad code and I can't blame him. One thing I really admire about him is that he's openly critical of 2K7- he doesn't feed Madden producer type BS but is a straight shooter.

This game at a consistent 60 fps will be absolutely gorgeous- in stills, its far and away the best looking game I've ever played. Now that it will be moving fluidly, the animations might finally give justice to the beautiful player models.

I'm excited. 90 minor league teams with authentic ballparks? Awesome. A totally redone hitting system? Long overdue, but it could take this game to a whole new level. PS3 owners deserved better than the sorry port they got last year too. I can't wait to hear more info about this game.

This interview makes the game sound good...really, really good. As a PS3 owner, I really appreciate the effort they've put in to get it to the level of the 360 version.

That being said, it's going to take a hell of an effort to get me to buy this over The Show.

The Show is still on the top of my list also for now, but with this interview 2K8 just inched a little closer. I was possibly going to pass on the 2K game due to my disappointment with lasy yr. But after reading how much effort they're pouring into the PS3 development, I definitely have to get 2K8.

Owning a PS3 is finally starting to pay off... BIG TIME!
At least it sounds like the ps3 & 360 version will be on par with one another. Hopefully it will tone down those discussions a LITTLE and we can all focus on the actual game.

As a PS3 owner, I really did appreciate reading the interview and his candidnes about how the game was lousy last year on the Sony console. Obviously, in the back of Ben's mind he knows how good The Show is. They have a LOT of ground to make up to try and compete with what I almost think is a near perfect game in terms of gameplay with regards to The Show.

Got to say I'm cautiously optimistic about this game. My only concern is when you change so many things (fielding, batting, pitching, AI, etc.) there might be a tendency to falter in some areas. We'll see.

This interview was half good and half bad. Mainly because I got sick of hearing about the PS3. I understand the interview was for a PS3 website, but I think the first interview about the game should have had more details about batting/pitching/fielding.

"In closing, we've spent a lot of time on the PS3. We have one guy dedicated to the PS3, and you might say, "Oh, there's only one guy?" No, that's all he does, is PS3 stuff: he's a graphics programmer, he's a high-level programmer, a low-level programmer. He kind of does it all. He's very smart, and his goal in life this year was to get the PS3 where it needed to be, where we needed it to be, to give people the same visual gameplay experience. We actually reached 60 frames a second on the PS3 before we reached it on the 360, and he was pretty excited about that. The cutscenes run at 30 frames a second, which is pretty standard – there's no need to run cutscenes at 60, but the game itself runs at 60 frames a second."

Ben, buy this man a drink from us PS3 owners! Excellent news.

not that I think i'll be dissapointed in the 360 version in any way but I sure hope its every bit as good as the PS3 version since, well, us 360 users don't have an option #2...
i still have faith that it will all work out

ps. glad to see an interview but MAN was that a lot of fluff... didn't really tell us anything besides what we already knew and/or assumed
They had to focus on PS3 since it was seriously lacking in the visuals & because of Sony's baseball game. Don't worry the 360 version should be of equal quality.

I disagree with you about the interview as most PS3 owners probably will.
They basically addressed everything they needed to...... Now we all just need some videos or at least a few pics.

Everyone keeps mentioning the "90 minor league teams", and Brinkman kept mentioning they added "90". Does that mean that the original minor league teams we have from last year with return PLUS 90 more, or that they're now going to incorporate 90 minor league teams w/ complete rosters - and by "adding" he's meaning the general feature of having 90 fully loaded minor league squads?

Exactly! They finally shut me up about it, at least for now.... I still need to see some kind of proof though.
