Prospects need to hold more value

In the real world, a very good (top 10) prospect and bring back a LOT in a trade...because he is young, under team control for several years, and has a lot of potential.

I have never seen a baseball video game that properly values prospects (except for OOTP Baseball for the PC).

I think more value should be assigned to a player who has a potential rating of A....sort of like in Madden football. High potential shouldnt just be handed out to every prospect. There should be some sort of top-prospects list in the game...maybe the top 50 or so, where you can browse the list, view their minor league stats, and view their ratings/potential.

    Any thoughts?

I like thie idea. However, if they go in that direction, the trade AI will have to vastly improve or you can see some crazy lopsided trades.

MVP 2005's trade logic seemed to take the BA's Top 100 into account.

Personally, I felt that 2K7's trade logic was WAY off, and in agreement with Flax, I felt that no emphasis was placed on prospects. If a GM wanted to unload a high contract/rating with the current logic system, you'd only get "stars" in return or a combination of mid-level players, but never any prospects.

Actually I hope they don't put in prospect trade logic, as I know almost immediately all prospects will be overvalued. In the real world the value of a prospect is extremely volatile and they are treated as unknowns. Only the tops of the tops are that valued. And sometimes even the super valuable prospects can be traded for crap under the right circumstances. (Kazmir for Zambrano) (Liriano Nathan and Bonser for Pierzynski). If they do it, they need to reflect the nature of the market or not do it at all.
