          I still havent understood preorders.

You have no idea how the game is going to turn out, so why buy it? You could be putting money on absolute garbage. Unless its a platformer, it wont sell out so I still dont get it. Maybe Im missing something.

Same reason I buy 2-disc editions for movies and go to the midnight showing instead of the next day, though it's less convenient for me. Sometimes you just get so caught up in something, you... nevermind, I really don't know why.

In New York, you HAVE to preorder baseball videogames if you want to play them within the first week.

Secondly-- I never go a year without a baseball videogame. It would be a sin not to have the most updated game with all the new rosters.

Thirdly-- If I found MLB2K7 enjoyable, and 2K8 promises to be a big upgrade, of course I'm gonna buy 2K8.

Fourthly--- Five dollars to ensure I don't have to run around to find a copy = a small price to pay for peace of mind.

Personally I've never pre ordered a game; unless its something like trade in 3 for 1. So for something like BioShock or Gears of War, thats about it. Sports games you can usually find the day of release at best buy in the afternoon. And since I am a university student with variety of class timings I can just pick it up around noon.

I pre-order them at my local Gamestop just in case they sell out or only get a few copies in.

Its a convenience thing for me. I dont have time to hunt around for the game so I like to pre-order and have it sent to my job.

There are those other guys that are just funnier. They go on their lunch break from their jobs that Tuesday to hunt for the game. If and when they finally find it, they're back at their job, posting on OS telling how eager they are to just rip the game open and find the nearest console to play it on.

                        LOL patience, young grasshoppers.

And then there are some guys who don't even own the systems the game is on but post complaints and impressions.

... because they sometimes still have actually played the game, know the game's past very well, and have deeply analyzed screenshots, videos, interviews, feature layouts, and first-hand impressions before playing as well.

You can't play for very long at kiosks or at a friend's house.
