Incorporate some of the old 2K4 stuff

I get it, people love innovation, I do too. But ESPN Baseball 2k4 was one of the best games I have ever played.

I just went and picked up this game for the xbox today for 99 cents at Gamestop.

First of all, the effort pitching system, with a hidden pitching-cursor, makes the game awesome. It's hard to throw strikes when you have to add-subtract a little bit of speed and you cant see precisely where the ball is going.

Also, I know a lot of people hate it, but I love the batting cursor. If you miss high, you hit a ground ball, if you miss low, you pop up. If you hit it square, you hit a line drive. If you get slightly under it...a fly ball. The rest is dependent on timing.

I also really like the camera angles in that game.

Another cool option was to play a league with all fictional players....that really tests your skills as a scout/gm/manager.

It also had a pitch speed setting called "real." This is an awesome option that makes hitting an "ace" pitcher that much more difficult.

Just sayin it would be cool to bring some of this stuff back..

I think that all types of hitting should be in baseball games. All should be an option.

I realize that by doing so they have to concentrate on all options and make sure they are all playable. Perhaps, this is only possible once a company feels they have reached a near perfect level of gameplay.

I'd like to see (for all the fans) zone, cursor, timing only, swing stick as options in a baseball video game. Give the user the control.

I remember that effort system and did like it a lot. Lets see how the new pitching mechanic works. I'm excited for it.

I realize zone hitting is close to cursor hitting due to what yiu are doing with the right stick, but I loved cursor hitting as well. I really felt rewarded by getting my bat in the correct position to hit the ball. It felt like hitting to me. Obviously its not but it was as close as it was gonna get. Hopefully zone is implemented but it wouldn't be bad to see cursor hitting again.

I cant remember what game it was a few years ago but you had the creat a team option where you could create your team in whatever city you wanted. And you could pick the type of stadium you wanted. I would always build a team somewhere in Alaska or my home town of Bayou La Batre. I would like to see that incorperated into todays next gen game

Yeah, the last gen Madden's did this and I think All Star baseball in 05.

They also had retro and future versions of stadiums like Fenway, Yankee and Dodgers as well. Was cool the features it had.

I'm sorry but 2k4 was one of the worst baseball games I've played. The animations were disgusting and the graphics were also very weak. That game had zone hitting but besides that it was wack.
NBA2K is the standard of sports games period.
